Newton’s Nook – Watercolor Bookmarks

Happy Thursday everyone! I’m happy to be on the Newton’s Nook blog today with a pair of bookmarks using limited supplies but having different outcomes for each.

I created these one after the other so I had mindful intent to make them look different but use the same stamp set, bookmark dies and background stencil. The images are stamped and watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. They are very forgiving and fun markers to use and can give different looks depending if you blend with their blender pen or water and a paint brush.

With my first image being a rainbow stack of books, I wanted to keep the background neutral and though white and gray were the perfect combo to pull such a thing off. Also, with these being bookmarks intended for that use, I glued all the images down with liquid glue, no foam squares today.

For the second bookmark I chose a limited color palette with a background color that followed suit. For my sentiment this time, I glued two extra die cuts from the bookmark die set together.

Both of the bookmarks have wide ribbon threaded through the hole, tied with embroidery floss. I like a good plume coming out of the top of my book so I’m not digging for where my bookmark is. But you could alter that to your taste as well.

Products used:
All Booked Up stamps and dies
Bookmarks dies
Cascading Stars stencil

Blending brushes

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!
