Newton’s Nook – Hogs and Kisses

Hi friends! I’m over on the Newton’s Nook blog today with some fun inspiration using older, but still favorite, goodies! Who doesn’t love a good farm pun?!? Definitely this girl!

I started by stamping and coloring a couple of adorable pigs from the Oink set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Then I found some great orange cardstock to cut my oval from using one of the Oval Frames dies. But I knew I needed to break it up with something so I went digging in my stencils.

That Argyle stencil will win the day every single time! I inked a white panel up with light teal and dark blue for a great play on the orange we’ve got going on. I trimmed the stenciled panel down by 1/2 inch and popped it up on a white card base. Then I stamped my sentiment on the bottom of the orange oval before popping it up on the argyle with the piggies.

I ended up not liking the white strip at the bottom of my card like I thought I would so I cut a strip of the orange cardstock and added it which I love! It’s great when things work out. For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the piggy snouts, hooves and dots on the bandana.

This is such a fun love-themed card using anything but traditional colors and I think it’s fantastic!
