Doodlebugs – Be Mine Bears

Hey friends! Happy to be here with another Mix-it-Up Monday for the Doodlebugs blog. I’m squeezing in one more bit of Valentine inspiration before the big day is here. I really love Valentine crafting of all sorts so it’s hard for me to be done right up until the day.

Today I played with the Pretty Pink Posh fringe heart dies. I started with white and graduated up to red on my layers. After gluing them today, I fluffed the fringe a bit and splattered the heart with gold watercolor.

Then I stamped and colored some Mama Elephant cuties from the set My Favorite Person. After die cutting them I stamped and heat embossed mini sentiments on each from the set in gold. Next, I ink blended the Pretty Pink Posh Deco Leaves stencil in red on a pink cardstock panel.

It seemed very stark so I went around the edges with the same blending brush after removing the stencil and also splattered it would a little water. I used liquid glue to adhere this panel and the fringe heart to a card base. Then I added the bears with foam squares.

Last I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Valentine Greetings and used the coordinating die to cut it out. I popped it up on the fringe heart with foam strips. For finishing touches I did add tiny glossy accents dots to the bear noses.

Miss Ink Stamps – Fortune Teller

Hi friends, I’m back one more time today with some inspiration featuring part of the new Miss Ink Stamps release. More fabulousness from the Magic category and I had so much fun creating with it!

The set is called Fortune Teller and it lends itself to having so much fun with color combos! I coordinated it all and had to add the sweet sleeping kitty to my little scene too! After stamping and coloring, I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. Then liquid glue to layer the kitty, chair and table together. I added foam tape to the back of Ms. Trelawney.

For my background, I ink blended distress oxide inks from black soot to chipped sapphire, then into blueprint sketch and last a little seedless preserves at the top. I splattered the panel with water, blotted it dry and then went in with white paint splatter too. After the paint dried, I spread glitz gel through the Sparkles stencil to add to the magic of it all.

While the glitz was drying I cut a black frame from the Modern Typeset Frame die set and added foam strips to the back. I also stamped and heat embossed my sentiment and cut it out with a sentiment strip. This also has a foam strip behind it.

After adhering all the layers to a card base, I finished the design with some glossy accents on the crystal ball and Ms. Trelawney’s glasses.

Newton’s Nook – This Calls for COFFEE

Hey friends! I’m always happy to be on the Newton’s Nook blog sharing cuteness and fun inspiration! Today we’re getting caffeinated and playing with one of my new Christmas gifts – distress spritz sprays!

I started by stamping and heat embossing the horizontal image from the Coffee Delights stamp set. Then I watercolored the image and used the coordinating die to cut it out.

I used the stitched panels but not the frame from the Fractured die set to pop up on a white card base. My foam tape is solid and wide so I was able to stamp my sentiment and heat emboss it after assembling the card front. But if you’re a sparse foam taper be sure to do that part first. Then I spritzed on a couple colors of Distress Spritz Sprays and let it dry. The sprays are so shimmery in the light! I’m in love!

Last, I just added more foam tape to my cute mugs and popped them up, centered over the diamond at the top.

I am truly loving this celebratory feeling card that’s mellow and pretty but definitely needs to contain a coffee shop gift card when I send it out. Right?!?

Doodlebugs – XOXO Two-for-One Valentine Cards

Hi friends! It’s Mix it up Monday on the Doodlebugs blog and today I’m sharing a fun duo of Valloween cards using Mama Elephant dies and Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies. I started by stamping all of the ghosts from Pretty Pink Posh Ghost Friends just to color and relax with no plan in place. Then as I was crafting, I created the first card and the second just followed.

After coloring all the cute ghosts, I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out and just started playing around. Originally I thought I would use most all of them on one card but my first layout came together using just three and I love it!

I cut the Mama Elephant XOXO Grid Cover plate from red cardstock and inlaid white letters in each from leftovers I had saved while creating another card. I started to inlay the red centers to the Os but didn’t like it so I cut the cover plate from teal cardstock, saving all the pieces for another time but inserting the O centers to this cover and I love it!

With the pieces to the cover glued to a card front, I popped my ghosts up with foam squares. Then stamped and heat embossed sentiments from Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strips | Valentine and cut them out with sentiment strip dies. I popped them up with foam squares and finished the design off with glossy accents and stardust stickles.

However, now I have a bunch of XOs, extra ghosts and nothing to do with them. Except I wasn’t done playing so I pulled them together and started playing with an arrangement.

Once I decided I liked the ghosts and XOXO the way they were, I used liquid glue to adhere it all together wherever it overlapped. I lined the back with foam squares and strips and set it aside to create a background.

To do that, I cut the second largest die in the Mama Elephant Mod Heart die set from pink cardstock and inked it up with the Pretty Pink Posh Layered Hearts stencils and Starburst stencil.

I added the background panel to a white card base with foam tape and then removed the release paper from my images and popped those up in the center of the card front. Last, I stamped and heat embossed another sentiment from the same set on the previous card, cut it out and popped it up too.

For finishing touches on this card I also came in with glossy accents and stardust stickles on all of the ghosts.

Are these cards not the cutest ever? I’m over the moon with how they turned out! So fun and perfect for Valentine’s Day that’s coming up quick!

Doodlebugs – Mini Note Cards

Hi friends! It’s Mix it up Monday and today I have a couple of mini note cards to share with you. I love these for lunch boxes, leaving in mailboxes at work or attaching to gifts like a tag. They’re small and pretty quick to create but also really fun to make and give!

I started with the Pretty Pink Posh Mini Scallop Card dies. I cut two card bases and four stitched squares so I had a layer for the front and a clean slate for the inside to write on. On the white panels for the front I inked them up with the Pretty Pink Posh Starburst stencil using Lawn Fawn no. 2 pencil and deep sea inks.

For both cards, I used Mama Elephant Banner Greetings dies for the sentiments and the Write With Me stamp and die set. I chose the penguin for this card and used the scribble star from the set for the background. In my mind he’s painting the stars.

After adhering the layers together with liquid glue and foam squares, I added glossy accents to bits of the penguin and his brush. Lastly, I added white gel pen highlights all over the image.

For my second card, I chose the adorable piggy image. I love how the pink pig stands out off the yellow and blue scheme of the rest of the design. I stamped these stars with gray ink envisioning him scribbling them all over with his pencil.

Same for with this card, after assembling the layers with liquid glue and foam squares, I added glossy accents to parts of the pencil and white gel pen highlights all over.

To really make these fun, I used my envelope punch board and some patterned paper from my stash to create coordinating envelopes for each one.

Doodlebugs – A Year of Joy Birthday Remix

Hi friends! After Christmas brings us a few more birthdays in the family so I usually need to sprinkle those in my Valentine crafting and thought it would be fun to share one with you today. This was for my dad a few weeks ago and I absolutely love how it turned out!

I started things with the Pretty Pink Posh Birthday Candles, die cutting the pieces and gluing them together with liquid glue. This gave me my color palette when coloring my images.

I chose images from Lawn Fawn Yappy Birthday Add On and Pawsome Birthday stamp sets. After coloring everything with copic markers, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. For my “ground” I chose a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment strip to stamp and cut out.

I used the Spellbinders Tiny Dots embossing folder on a piece of white cardstock, glued my candles directly to it with liquid glue and used a combo of foam squares and liquid glue to adhere the images and sentiment strip. Then I popped the whole panel up on a white card base with foam tape.

For finishing touches today I added glossy accents to the candle flames and bits of the images like puppy noses, some of the flags, party hat and bone on the cupcake. I like the addition of bits and pieces being shiny to catch your eye and draw interest around the scene.

Miss Ink Stamps – Valloween Fun

Hi friends! You know how much I love Halloween and Valloween is totally a thing so I couldn’t resist playing with some of my favorite Miss Ink Stamps goodies and pairing them together.

I started with the Kindred Spirits image – stamping in gray ink and coloring it with sheer copic colors. I cut them out by hand and set the image aside.

Next I cut a black frame from the EIEIO Frames die set and a pink panel to back it. I ink blended apricot and pink with the Hand Drawn Hearts stencil on that before popping the frame up with foam strips on it.

Using my image as a guide, I stamped my sentiment in the lower center of the panel and them popped the ghosts up with foam tape. Last, I glued the whole panel to a card base.

Newton’s Nook – Valentine Postage Sampler Tags

Hey friends! I’m happy to be on the Newton’s Nook blog today with a trio of gift tags for Valentine’s Day. I love the images from the Valentines Postage Sampler set but don’t always want to make postage stamps…good think they’re perfect on their own too!

I started with a few of my favorite images from the set – stamping, coloring and die cutting them out. Then I cut a few hearts with the Heart Frames die set in different colors, plus a smaller size in white.

I chose sentiments from the stamp set and stamped one crisp one on the white heart and kept stamping until the ink was gone for a faded effect. Then I used the Petite Hearts stencil on all of the colored hearts for a tone-on-tone look that gives a little interest in the background.

I glued the white hearts to the colored one and popped the images up with foam squares on each one. Then I die cut an addition large white heart for each one so I had clean room to write a message to the recipient. I lined the hearts up and punches holes in them all, tying them together with some jute twine.

For finishing touches I added glitter enamel dots to each one and then something extra to the image. This one has stickles on the balloon shine spot, the roses are glittery and the cherries got a splash of glossy accents.

Are you gearing up for Valentine treats yet? I’m almost done already and it feels great!

Doodlebugs – Happy Valentine’s Day Hugs

Happy Mix it Up Monday everyone! Over on the Doodlebugs blog today we’re mixing old and new Valentine goodies together. Have you started Valentine crafting yet?

I started by stamping three of the Lawn Fawn Sweet Strawberry images, adding sprinkles to two and a sweet face to the third. I colored them with copic markers and used the coordinating die to cut them out.

Next, I inked up a piece of pink cardstock with the Pretty Pink Posh Layered Hearts stencil with ballet slippers and apricot inks. Then I cut the panel out with the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stackables in the small set. I glued a piece of red cardstock to a white card base and popped my stenciled panel up with foam tape on it.

I cut the Lawn Fawn Scripty Hugs from black cardstock three times and glued them together. Next I used liquid glue to adhere the hugs and sprinkle strawberries to the stenciled panel. I popped the final strawberry up with a foam square. Next, I stamped and cut a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment strip and popped it up below the hugs sentiment.

For finishing touches I glued a scattering of Spellbinders flat discs across the design and added white gel pen highlights to all of the strawberry images.

I love giving Valentines to anyone and everyone in my life. Everything from tags on gifts to treat boxes to cards. Almost more than Christmas I think. What about you?

Spellbinders – Simon’s Space Adventure Collection Release Day

Happy Friday everyone! I’m so excited to have had a chance to play with the Simon’s Space Adventure Collection from Spellbinders. It’s really fun and has endless possibilities! Embossing, stenciling, die cutting. It’s all there and works together or separately too!

I created three cards to share with you today. So let’s dive in.

My first card features the Starry Night embossing folder and stencils separately. Then I also created the fun rocket and moon from the To the Moon die set. I finished things off with a sentiment built using the Space Greetings dies. I love that they can go from love to birthday to just because with one simple set.

Next I had some fun with the UFO Friend die set, pulling in the moon and sentiments from the other sets as well. My background is created with distress oxide sprays and ink. It was a whole messy process of spraying, drying, spraying, drying, repeat. I loved it!

On my card above, I had originally planned to have aliens standing on the planets but realized quickly that there wasn’t enough room. However, creating these aliens was so much fun that I just kept going. That’s how I ended up with this fun design. I also used the Starry Night embossing folder and stencils together on this card. They line up perfectly which makes it easy and fun to color your stars.

Be sure to head over to Spellbinders and check out this collection and all the others today. It’s release day for it all!
