Doodlebugs – Happy Valentine’s Day Hugs

Happy Mix it Up Monday everyone! Over on the Doodlebugs blog today we’re mixing old and new Valentine goodies together. Have you started Valentine crafting yet?

I started by stamping three of the Lawn Fawn Sweet Strawberry images, adding sprinkles to two and a sweet face to the third. I colored them with copic markers and used the coordinating die to cut them out.

Next, I inked up a piece of pink cardstock with the Pretty Pink Posh Layered Hearts stencil with ballet slippers and apricot inks. Then I cut the panel out with the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stackables in the small set. I glued a piece of red cardstock to a white card base and popped my stenciled panel up with foam tape on it.

I cut the Lawn Fawn Scripty Hugs from black cardstock three times and glued them together. Next I used liquid glue to adhere the hugs and sprinkle strawberries to the stenciled panel. I popped the final strawberry up with a foam square. Next, I stamped and cut a Pretty Pink Posh sentiment strip and popped it up below the hugs sentiment.

For finishing touches I glued a scattering of Spellbinders flat discs across the design and added white gel pen highlights to all of the strawberry images.

I love giving Valentines to anyone and everyone in my life. Everything from tags on gifts to treat boxes to cards. Almost more than Christmas I think. What about you?

Spellbinders – Simon’s Space Adventure Collection Release Day

Happy Friday everyone! I’m so excited to have had a chance to play with the Simon’s Space Adventure Collection from Spellbinders. It’s really fun and has endless possibilities! Embossing, stenciling, die cutting. It’s all there and works together or separately too!

I created three cards to share with you today. So let’s dive in.

My first card features the Starry Night embossing folder and stencils separately. Then I also created the fun rocket and moon from the To the Moon die set. I finished things off with a sentiment built using the Space Greetings dies. I love that they can go from love to birthday to just because with one simple set.

Next I had some fun with the UFO Friend die set, pulling in the moon and sentiments from the other sets as well. My background is created with distress oxide sprays and ink. It was a whole messy process of spraying, drying, spraying, drying, repeat. I loved it!

On my card above, I had originally planned to have aliens standing on the planets but realized quickly that there wasn’t enough room. However, creating these aliens was so much fun that I just kept going. That’s how I ended up with this fun design. I also used the Starry Night embossing folder and stencils together on this card. They line up perfectly which makes it easy and fun to color your stars.

Be sure to head over to Spellbinders and check out this collection and all the others today. It’s release day for it all!

Doodlebugs – Hop Hop Hooray, A Froggy Scene Card

Hello again everyone! This is our first Mix it up Monday of the new year on the Doodlebugs blog. I hope your holidays were wonderful and you’re ready to take on new adventures in 2025! Today I’ve got a little scene card to share featuring a combo of Waffle Flower and Mama Elephant goodies.

I started by die cutting various elements from the Waffle Flower die sets – Inquisitive Frogs and Pond with Lily Pads. I used liquid glue to adhere the elements together and a little ink blending on the frog tummy and cattail stems.

Next, I ink blended teal and blue on a white piece of cardstock and splattered it with water. Once that was dry I cut the panel out using the second largest die in the Mama Elephant Mod Heart die set. I love the uneven, imperfect look it has. Using the froggie as a guide, I stamped the water ring image from Waffle Flower’s Pond of You stamp set. Then I started assembling my images with liquid glue. The frog and front lily pad are popped up with foam tape.

I love the sentiments in the Pond of You stamp set but I ran out of room because they are quite large so I went digging for my favorite Mama Elephant frog stamp set – Hello Froggy. I stamped the sentiment with teal ink to blend in a bit with the sky. I popped the panel up on a white card base with foam tape but something just wasn’t quite right yet.

So I pulled the Waffle Flower Pond of You stamps back out and stamped the awesome dragonflies in gray ink across the blank sky. Much better! I love how this turned out!

Happy New Year!

I wanted to pop in today to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year! I hope your holiday season was wonderful and you’re ready to tackle all the new adventures that come with 2025!

I created a card to share with all of you to start us off crafty and inspired. I used the Spellbinders Birthday Balloons dies, using liquid glue to adhere the pieces together. Then I cut the next-to-largest Notched Corner Rectangle from a gold-yellow cardstock and inked the edges with Lawn Fawn no. 2 pencil ink for depth.

I popped the yellow panel up on a piece of black cardstock and glued that to a white card base. Then I added foam squares to the balloons and popped them in place one at a time, layering as I went. Once those were placed, I trimmed the strings hanging off the bottom.

Next I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strips | Birthday and cut it out with a senitment strip die. That is popped up with a foam strip and I finished the design off with a scattering of gold baubles from Pretty Pink Posh as well.

I don’t do the resolution thing but I have some simple goals for the year – move my body more, go camping more and try some new things throughout the year. What about you? Any thoughts for the new year?

Doodlebugs – You Make My Heart Smile

Happy New Year’s Eve Eve everyone! It’s the last Mix it up Monday of 2024 and I wanted it to be sweet and filled with love. So we’re playing with textured backgrounds and cute little mice.

I started with the Mama Elephant Lacey Love die and the Lawn Fawn All Heart stamps and dies. I used the mouse image as a guide so I could stamp my sentiment on the inner heart. After that was stamped, I added some extra hearts and a little pink ink blending with a blending brush and ballet slippers ink from Lawn Fawn. Then I stamped, colored and cut out my mouse too.

For the background, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the new Concord & 9th Wood Slat embossing folder. I adhered that to a white card base, then trimmed a piece of teal cardstock from my stash that already had the dots embossed in it and glued it on top. I covered the seam with gold washi tape for a little shine and to keep the transition smooth.

Next I popped my Lacey Heart up with foam squares in the center of the card front, along with my floating mouse on top of that. Then for finishing touches I added black glaze pen to the mouse’s eyes and glossy accents to his nose. Then I covered the balloon with stardust Stickles for more sparkles.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of 2024 and I look forward to creating with you in the new year.

Doodlebugs – Paper Hugs

Happy Mix it up Monday everyone! Today I’m switching gears away from holiday crafting to play with the most recent Mama Elephant release. This new Build a Bouquet set is adorable, pretty and everything in between! I had so much fun creating this card today.

I stamped my images from Mama Elephant Build a Bouquet first and colored them with copic markers. After cutting them out with the coordinating dies, I built my bouquet, realizing I needed a few more stems to fill things the way I wanted. So I stamped, colored and cut. This time it was perfect. After arranging everything in the slit of the paper image, I used washi tape to hold it all in place, then added dots of liquid glue to ensure it all stayed.

Next, I cut the second-to-largest Pretty Pink Posh Eyelet Circle from white cardstock and a slightly smaller circle from teal. Using this with my images as a guide, I figured out that “paper hugs” from the new Mama Elephant Paper Hugs die set fit perfectly off to the side. Using liquid glue, I adhered those layers all together and set them aside to work on my card front.

Keeping things bright and simple I used sunflower ink with a blending brush and the Pretty Pink Posh Starburst stencil. After adding ink through the stencil, I removed it and added another light layer of yellow working my way from the center out. Next, I added my decorated circle with foam tape to the center of the burst.

For finishing touches I kept things simple with a little black glaze pen on the kitty’s eyes and glossy accents on the kitty nose and flower centers.

Newton’s Nook – Postage Love

Hi friends! I’m so happy to be on the Newton’s Nook blog today. It’s my last post of the year but I’ll be back again next year and can’t wait for all the adventures that will bring! However, today I have another fun card using products from the new release!

I pulled out the Valentine Postage Collage stamps and just created 3 stamps. I cut them from copic paper so I could stamp and color right on the stamp, more of a true postage stamp vibe this way. Then I arranged them in a cluster, holding it together with washi tape and added foam tape to the back.

I inked up the Bokeh Hearts stencil on a pink panel and glued it to a white card base. Then I cut the “love” word from the new Charming Hearts die set three times from white cardstock and glued the layers together.

I adhered everything to the stenciled card front panel and came in for some sparkly details. Gold watercolor was added to the postmark and stardust Stickles were added to little bits of each stamp and the bottom of the word die cuts.

I’m having so much fun Valentine crafting already! It feels almost sinful. Lol! Have you started yet?

Doodlebugs – Deck the Halls Scene Card

Hello everyone. I’m on the Doodlebugs blog today for Mix it Up Monday, the last Christmas one of the year. I’m sure most everyone is wrapping up holiday crafting and ready to move on with other things but I really wanted to share this card with you all. It’s so sweet and was therapeutic to color the images and pull it all together.

I started off with a bundle of images from the Mama Elephant Little Agenda Sweets set. I stamped and watercolored them, then after they dried I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. I saved the window the die cuts out and glued it to my gingerbread guy for continuity in my scene. Otherwise it’s pretty straight forward.

Next I cut the Pretty Pink Posh Eyelet Circle from teal cardstock and a scrap of white for some snowy ground. I used liquid glue to adhere them together and a combo of liquid glue and foam tape to adhere my images to that.

Next I took a piece of white cardstock and embossed it with the Spellbinders Peppermint Stripes embossing folder. To add color, I drug the Lawn Fawn cilantro ink pad lightly across the panel going in the direction with the stripes (at an angle) until it had the coverage I wanted. I used liquid glue to adhere it to a card base and added my circle scene with foam tape to that.

Last, I cut a sentiment banner from the Mama Elephant Winter Banners die set. I inked the top layer with pink, glued the layers together and popped it up with foam strip. For finishing touches I just tied some fun peppermint twine around the left side of the card and tied it in a cute little bow.

Products used:
Mama Elephant Winter Banners dies
Mama Elephant Little Agenda Sweets stamps and dies
Pretty Pink Posh Eyelet Circles dies
Spellbinder Peppermint Stripes embossing folder
Lawn Fawn cilantro ink pad
Liquid glue
Foam tape and squares
Zig clean color real brush markers
VersaFine brown ink

Newton’s Nook – December Release Day

Yippee!!! It’s release day everyone! Head over to the Newton’s Nook shop and pick up your new heart-filled goodies today! Also, head to Instagram and hop along with us for more inspiration and another chance to win!

For my hop card, I pulled out the new paper pad and word trio dies, plus some oldie but goodie shape dies to go with it.

The background panel is cut with the largest Frames & Flags die and all the hearts came from the Heart Frames die set. If you look, the sentiment is the opposite “extra” sentiment I ended up with when creating my card from Tuesday! It didn’t get to sit around for long. I love how it works on this design.

And of course, I finished things off with a little jute twine for that rustic vibe. It really just makes my heart happy.

Now, head to Instagram and hop along, commenting as you go, for another chance at a $25 gift code to the Newton’s Nook shop.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

Newton’s Nook – December Release Day 3

Woohoo!!! It’s the final day of release reveals and tomorrow you all get to shop the new release! I’m so excited for the two cuties we have to introduce today!

Newton’s Cookie Jar and Puppy’s Cookie Jar stamps and dies

Are you in love? I totally am! These are more of the amazing sets where the sentiments can be stamped inside the cookie jar if you want too! I love these! Also, I can’t wait to paper piece the cookie jars and make them cool patterns from the paper pads!

Today I kept it simple and stamped and colored all the images from both sets with copic markers. Then I stamped sentiments on each jar and used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

I used liquid glue to adhere the cookies to the front of each cookie jar, then die cut a second jar image. I lined them up and punched a hole in both layers, threaded twine through both, creating two gift tags. Can you just picture these cuties attached to a package of homemade cookies?!? I can’t wait to use these!
