Doodlebugs – Cozy It Up Monday

Hey friends! I’m switching things up for today because we’re getting cozy on the Doodlebugs blog while mixing things up. Mixing Mama Elephant cuties with Pretty Pink Posh sentiment stamps and dies for an awesome combo!

I started by stamping and coloring my images from Mama Elephant’s Keep Cozy set. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and a little liquid glue to adhere the groupings together.

Next, I pulled some cardstock scraps from my stash and cut a bunch of sentiment strips using the Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strip die set. This die set is genius and a must have staple in your craft room. After cutting them all I arranged them on a piece of white cardstock. I used liquid glue to adhere them so I let the glue dry for a minute before trimming the panel down to 4×5.25 inches.

Then I added foam tape to my critters and popped them up like they were sitting on one of the strips. Next, I placed the panel in my MISTI and stamped a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strips | Fall stamp set with brown ink to keep the look subtle.

After that, I added foam tape to the back of the panel and popped it on a white card base. For finishing touches I added mossy green confetti across the design, black glaze pen the the critter eyes and glossy accents to their noses.

Doesn’t this make you want to curl up with a cuppa and a good book and forget your responsibilities? Me too!

Miss Ink Stamps – Scared Sheetless

Welcome friends. I hope your weekend is going wonderfully. I’m back with the second Miss Ink Stamps card I mentioned on Friday. I’m a little extra excited about this one and VERY happy with how it turned out. I hope you love it too!

These ghosts are more from the original batch that I stamped and colored for Friday’s card. For my background though, that was an unexpected process. I inked a white panel with distress oxide ink in twisted citron, mowed lawn and black soot. I splattered it and blotted it dry.

Then I sprayed my Rabbit Hole stencil with Pixie Spray and adhered it to the inked panel. I placed it in my splatter box and sprayed it with Thermoweb Glitter Dust spray. I’ve used this one plain paper and felt before but not with a stencil. I was very happy with the outcome. Crisp lines and no bleeding.

***However, it’s been a (@#&*$)#* to clean my stencil since then. Just being transparent. The spray dries very quickly so even with immediate washing I’m having to scrub the entire thing mostly with my fingernail to get it off. It is coming off and I’m fairly stubborn and determined but I want you to know what you’re getting into if you try this. Also, I would do it again in a second because this looks SO COOL!

Next faux pas that happened…I went to tie my ribbon around the panel and pulled too tight so it ripped the edge. No way was I wasting this background. So I embraced the distress and went around all the edges with my razor blade for a cool look that I haven’t used in ages.

Finally, I stamped my sentiment on the smallest tag in the Tags die set and threaded it through my ribbon before I tied the knot. I used liquid glue to adhere the background panel to a card base and used foam squares to adhere everything, including the tag to keep it in place.

For finishing touches I just added Touch of Gloss to the accents on each ghost and let that sparkly background do the rest.

Miss Ink Stamps – Spooky

Happy Friday everyone! Miss Ink Stamps is doing a little re-release of their amazing Halloween sets and I’ve been playing with my favorite Boo Sheet set. I have a simple card to share with you today and I’ll be back again on Sunday with another one. Be sure to check out the whole team the next few days to see what kind of awesome inspiration they’re sharing as well!

I started by stamping out all of the ghosts, plus duplicates of some, along with accessories to go with the ones with open hands. I colored them all in an array of light tones for some shading. I always use the same super light BG copics and today I just had fun with all the colors.

I used my scan-n-cut to cut them out and set them aside while I worked on a background. I had a vision in my head of color blocks behind the ghosts and using five of them like the dots on a die. Ultimately you see that didn’t work out and I swapped the center ghost for my sentiment. But first I used the large blob stencil in the Artsy Abstracts stencil set to add my color blocks.

I splattered the panel with watered down black metallic watercolor and popped my ghosts up with foam squares. Then I decided to add a second sentiment over the top. That is heat embossed on vellum and carefully adhered with little dabs of liquid glue.

For finishing touches I just added Touch of Gloss to the lollipop. I glued a black panel to my card front and popped the inked panel up with foam tape and my card is all finished.

Pink & Main – Peppermint Circle Shaped Cards

Hey friends! We’re making our way through the week. Today I’m on the Pink & Main blog sharing a pair of circle shaped cards that I made using images from the new Oh My Garland stamp set and last year’s Peppermint Swirl die.

I started these cards by just stamping a few of the sweet images from Oh My Garland and spent some time coloring with my copic markers. I had no design or plan in mind. I just wanted to color these cuties. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. This is when I started playing around with groupings and thinking about designs.

I remembered the Peppermint Swirl die from last year and had to try it out. So I cut it from some melon pink cardstock in my stash, keeping the stripes too. Then I cut it from white cardstock as well. Next, I cut white circles using the Layered Circles die that is one size bigger than the peppermint swirl. I glued the pink swirl to one and inlayed the white stripes to it.

Something about this blue mug on the pink swirls was just perfect to me so I added him and that cute star, plus a heat embossed sentiment. Last, I added some enamel dots and a bit of Touch of Gloss to this hat.

For my other peppermint swirl, I didn’t like the white swirl on the white circle so I took the green copic marker I used on my images and colored the edge to match. Isn’t that super cute?!? I love how that turned out.

I added my images and heat embossed sentiment with foam squares. Then I added Touch of Gloss to the elf hat and doorknob on the gingerbread house. Last, I had to add Stickles to the gumdrops on the roof. They were just asking for it!

To turn these into cards, I cut the same white circles two more times, scored them about 1/2 inch from one side and adhered that portion to the back of my decorated circles with EZ Tear Tape. I folded them open and reinforced the crease with a bone folder.

Peppermint Swirl die
Foam tape
Touch of Gloss
Magic anti-static brush
Embossing ink

Doodlebugs – Brewing Up Some Fun with Die Cut Inlay

Hello again. I’m on the Doodlebugs blog today mixing it up with Mama Elephant Little Agenda cuties and the Pretty Pink Posh Haunted House die. They’re perfect for each other! Let’s get started!

To start things off today, I pulled out the Pretty Pink Posh Haunted House die and my Mama Elephant Little Agenda Mummy and Witch stamps. I placed the stamps all over the house to see which ones and how many I wanted to use. Then I stamped and colored everything with copic markers, using the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Between the house and the background panel, I did two sets of ink blending full panels. For the house, I used hickory smoke, gathered twigs and black soot distress oxide inks. I was super messy and intentionally didn’t blend the panel well. For my background panel, I inked top to bottom with twisted citron, mowed lawn and rustic wilderness. Then I went around the edges with black soot. Still using distress oxides; it’s was I typically reach for. I spritzed the green panel with water and blotted it dry.

Next, I die cut the haunted house from the gray inked panel and glued the frame down with liquid glue. Then I cut the house again from black cardstock, carefully leaving as many of the little pieces in the die as possible so that I could inlay most of them onto my panel. This did take a while, not going to sugar coat it, but it was therapeutic and totally worth the work.

I slid some images behind the window frames, trimmed out the center frame so my mummy would should through, and popped some of the images up with foam squares. I used a black pen to add web from the window frame to my spiders hanging down too.

Last, I cut a sentiment strip using the new die set from Pretty Pink Posh and stamped a sentiment on it using the coordinating Halloween stamp set. The sentiment strip was cut from green cardstock so to mute it down I inked the edges with black soot distress oxide ink left in my blending foam. I popped it up with foam strips and added some glossy accents to the candle flame.

Miss Ink Stamps – Tea Cups Sneak Peek Part 2

Hello everyone! I’m back with another sneak peek of the upcoming Miss Ink Stamps September Release! It’s a fantastic addition to the Alice collection that already exists. Today I have a card featuring the other images in the Tea Cups set that I just adore!

I had some fun stamping and coloring the images and then used a craft knife to cut a slit in the tea cup so I could slide Alice and the Hatter inside it. I secured them with washi tape and switched gears to get messy!

I took a piece of white cardstock and a few distress oxide sprays and started spritzing. I let them dry and totally hated it. The cool thing about these sprays is that you’re never done until you’re done. So I pulled out different colors and spritzed and sprayed more. Then I sprayed water and dabbed here and there. It was literally a mess and I loved every step of it! Once the panel was dry I taped the Leafy Swirls stencil over top and spread glitz glitter gel through it, also intentionally being messy and not complete.

Next, I trimmed the stenciled panel down to 4×5.25 inches and glued it to a white card base. Then I added my banners, lanterns and lights to the top with a combination of foam squares and liquid glue. Then I added my tea cup and sentiment with foam squares below that.

Typically I would go mad with gloss and glitter but there is a lot going on here so I kept it simple and let the images stand on their own this time. That except for a little over spray on my teacup from the distress oxide spraying event. Oops and definitely ties things together with the mixed media vibe.

Be sure to head to Miss Ink Stamps to check out the whole release tomorrow when it’s available for purchase! You’re going to love it all!!!

Coffee Loving Cardmakers – National Coffee Day Hop

Happy National Coffee Day friends! I’m so happy to be sponsoring the Coffee Loving Cardmakers hop once again. I have lots of fun products in my shop to fuel your love for coffee, along with others too! I invite you to take a minute to check it out. We’re even having a sale for the duration of the hop!

Today I also have a fun card to share with you for inspiration using some of our embellishments, and of course I used our handy tools while creating my card too!

I started by inking up a panel with the Newton’s Nook Mugs stencil. I used green, pink and brown for my color palette today. I trimmed it down a smidge and inserted it into a Tonic Studios full card shaker pocket, leaving one end open to fill up. I chose Pixie Dust Micro Beads and Princess Rings for my shaker bits today. Then sealed the last opening up.

I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Newton’s Nook’s Time for Coffee stamp set. I cut it out with a circle from the Frames Squared dies and then chose the larger circle from Circle Frames to cut as a mat. I used liquid glue to adhere them together and popped them up with foam squares on my card front.

Next, I stamped and colored a mug and steam from the same stamp set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I adhered them with a combination of liquid glue and foam squares.

I used tear tape to adhere the shaker to a card base so the adhesive was nice and strong. Then I finished things off with Touch of Gloss to the dots on my coffee mug and two clay hearts to my sentiment.

Twiddler’s Nook Princess Rings – Tiana color

Pink & Main – Happy Fall Die Cut Card

Hello everyone! I’m on the Pink & Main blog today sharing a card featuring just two die sets. The new Fancy Frame dies are gorgeous and come with some little dies in the center that are perfect for adorning those frames. Add that with a sentiment – stamped or die cut – and you have a gorgeous and easy to create card!

Today, along with those Pink & Main dies, I’m using all their cardstock colors too. They’re so rich and vibrant; perfect for this type of card. I did a little ink blending around the edges of my die cuts for some depth but that’s definitely not a must if you don’t like the look or don’t have the time.

After cutting all the pieces, I used EZ Squeeze liquid glue to adhere everything together and then to the blue frame. Once that had dried for a minute I added foam tape to the back of everything and popped it all up on a white card base. I really love the white breaking up the blue and yellow portions.

To finish things off and add a little sparkle, I pulled out my Ballroom gems and added a few where the vines meet on both spots. I love this little bit of sparkle and the bright, happy colors of the whole design together.

Products used:
Fancy Frame dies
Autumn Greetings dies
Ballroom Gems embellishments
Foam tape roll
EZ Squeeze liquid glue
Cardstock – school bus, on the green, wildflowers, river walk, coffee shop and the park

Newton’s Nook | Simon Says Stamp – Stamptember Collab Release

I’m popping in really quick tonight with a fun card featuring the Newton’s Nook | Simon Says Stamp Stamptember Collaboration set. As always, it’s totally adorable and has a million and one ways to use it.

Straight away, I want to make gift tags with them, paper piece patterns on the stockings and customize the critters to all of our pets!

Today I went a little extra because that sweet reindeer was just calling out to have his nose light up. Isn’t he just the cutest!?! I started by stamping and coloring him with copic markers. Then I used the scan-n-cut to cut him out and switched gears to my messy background so it could dry while I did the light up part.

I love this layered stencil. It makes it so easy to customize your lights in different ways. Today I inked green light strings and spread Thermoweb Glitz Glitter Gel through the lightbulb layer.

While that was drying, I cut a tag shape with the Fancy Edges Tag dies from a piece of patterned paper from the Christmas Time paper pad. Then I cut a hole in the center of that for the light to shine through. I added my Pear Blossom Press One Light to the back of the tag with glue dots and then glued my reindeer in place so the light was under his nose.

I added foam to the back of the tag and tied some ribbon through the hole. ***Note that you always need double layer foam for the light mechanisms to sit flat.***

With the glitz gel dry, I die cut the panel with the largest Frames & Flags die. There was too much bright white for me so I used the green left in my blending brush and inked the edges. Then I took the green ink pad I used originally and went direct to paper to ink up the edges of my card front. It’s a darker, more saturated version of the same green so they go together plus I don’t have to try and color match my cardstock.

I chose my sentiment from the set and heat embossed it on a circle from the Frames Squared dies before adhering all my pieces together.

You all know I like dimension but I try to keep it no more than two levels high, since my tag is that high from the light mechanism, I glued the light string panel directly to my card base with liquid glue, then removed the release paper and added the tag and finally added the sentiment circle with foam and liquid glue as well.

Be sure to pop over to Simon Says Stamp and snag this adorable stamp set before they’re sold out. These things have barely been lasting the night so don’t miss it!
