Doodlebugs – Coloring Your Die Cuts with Ink Blending Fall Card

Hi there! I’m on the Doodlebugs blog for Mix-it-up-Monday. Today we’ve got Spellbinders dies with Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies. But the big thing I want to touch on today is a fun and easy way to add gorgeous color to your die cuts…ink blending before you cut!

Today I created a shaped card using the Spellbinders Envelope of Wonder and Autumn Wonder die sets. The envelope base comes in the Envelope of Wonder set, then there are add on sets for autumn, Halloween and Christmas so far. You can snag a bundle of all the sets to save some money at Doodlebugs if you’re quick. This is a really fun set and I’m sure once you get the first one, you’ll be back for more.

To start today, I cut the envelope base using kraft cardstock and tear tape to adhere all the pieces. I set that aside and took a piece of white cardstock and an array of fall coloring distress oxide inks. I just covered the whole panel with no rhyme or reason and not a lot of blending between colors either. I started light adding blobs here and there, working my way to my darkest. I used colors like mustard seed, crackling campfire, gathered twigs and forest moss. I spritzed the panel with a distress sprayer and blotted it dry. Then I used a heat tool to completely dry the panel before die cutting all of my Autumn Wonder elements. I have a stack of A2 white cardstock panels ready to go at all times and I’ll be honest that I went back and blended a second panel of just leaves, plus a white panel for the mushroom stems and such to fill my envelope to my liking.

Once those were all cut out, I stamped a sweet squirrel from Pretty Pink Posh Cozy Fall Critters and colored him with copic markers. Then I used the coordinating die to cut him out. I also die cut Pretty Pink Posh Give Thanks Script from brown glitter paper.

I arranged everything in my envelope and used press ‘n seal to pick it all up, added liquid glue and carefully slid it back in the envelope. Last, I used liquid glue to add my sentiment, big acorn and mushroom to the front. Then I popped the squirrel and his small acorn up with foam squares.

For finishing touches I added black glaze pen to the squirrel’s eyes and glossy accents to his nose. I just can’t resist those little touches, especially with critters!

My daughter promptly stole this card from me so it won’t be going in the mail but I think I’ll definitely be trying out some of those other add on sets to the Envelope of Wonder for Halloween and, of course, Christmas too! They’re too cute!

Newton’s Nook – Trick or Treat Hot Foiling

Hey friends! I’m back with another card featuring some of the September release from Newton’s Nook that just went live on Friday and one of my favorite Newton’s ever…Batty Newton!

I am a huge bat lover and Batty Newton is just too cute to spook! So I snagged him for my card today. I colored him with copic markers and used the coordinating die to cut him out. I hot foiled the new spiderweb and spider in silver and purple foils, using my scan-n-cut to cut out the spider.

I ink blended distress oxide inks in black soot and hickory smoke over the foiled spider web, then stamped a sentiment from Newton’s Candy Corn in the corner. I also inked up a white panel measuring 4×5.25 inches with twisted citron and mowed lawn distress oxide and splattered it with black paint.

Adding everything to a white card base with foam tape and squares, I finished the design off with glossy accents on Newton’s nose and toe beans.

Spellbinders – Envelope of Wonder

Oh my, friends! Did you see the August release from Spellbinders with the Envelope of Wonder and the add-on sets for it? I honestly haven’t touched any of the original pieces other than the envelope itself because I’m fully stuck on these autumn add-ons!

Today I cut the main part of the envelope from green striped paper that was in my stash and all the other parts from kraft cardstock. I used liquid glue and tear tape to assemble my envelope and then set it aside while I played with all of the great pieces in the Autumn Wonder dies.

After cutting lots of pieces, I used liquid glue to adhere the layers together on the mushrooms and pumpkins. Then I decided on my arrangement and started adhering elements inside the envelope. Then I adhered those on the front and added them to the envelope with foam tape.

Last, I cut a sentiment from the Thanks Enclosed Sentiments, glued the layers together and popped it up with foam squares so it was the same level as the mushrooms and such. Finally, I added a few red clay hearts floating out of the top of the envelope. I like how this filled the empty space a little and tied in the sentiment just a bit extra.

Pixi Dust Designs – Spooky Mugs

Hey spooky friends! I hope you’re ready for today’s card because I’m RIDICULOUS excited to share it with you! It’s part of the new release from Pixi Dust Designs and the die set is called Jack Mug.

I can’t even you guys! He’s my favorite and I love this set SO MUCH! I took my time and die cut everything from cardstocks in my stash. Then I wanted to give somethings extra life, even in death, so I ink blended the edges a bit of Zero and Oogie cupcake. Then I used liquid glue and assembled everything.

I trimmed a piece of white cardstock down to 4×5.25 inches and ink blended it with distress oxide ink in hickory smoke and black soot. I splattered it with water and black metallic watercolor for texture. After that dried I stamped a sentiment and added my images with foam tape.

I added washi tape to the side of my card front and popped the inked panel up with foam tape on that.

Do you love it? I seriously love it! So much that this one might stay in my stash instead of going to a new home.

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 4

Well friends, you’ve gotten to see all of the amazing upcoming products from Newton’s Nook for the September release but we’re not done sharing inspiration. Today I have another card featuring Newton’s Candy Corn. He’s just so cute I had to color him multiple times.

After stamping and coloring Newton’s Candy Corn, I used the coordinating die to cut him out and went digging in to new paper pad for background inspiration. I landed on this pattern of trick or treat bags and thought everything is just fitting together perfectly.

So I cut that with the largest Frames & Flags die, then cut an oval from orange cardstock to focus my Newton image on. I ink blended the orange cardstock with spiced marmalade distress oxide ink and also added pumice stone distress oxide ink to my card base. I spritzed them both with water and also flicked black paint on my card base.

Whenever I hot foil sentiments, I try to do multiple because they are fabulous to just have on hand, ready to grab. I happened to have this perfect match ready to go in my stash so I added foam tape and squares to everything and started layering them up.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to Newton’s nose and the face on his pumpkin bucket.

I hope you enjoyed release reveals and are chomping at the bit to add more goodies to your Halloween cardmaking stash! Release is available tomorrow!

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

Pretty Pink Posh – September Release Blog Hop Day 3

Hi there! I’m so excited to be joining the Pretty Pink Posh September Release Hop for day 3. If you missed the first 2 days, be sure to head to the PPP hop and catch up on all that inspiration and increase your chances of winning one of those $30 gift cards too!

Today I have a fun shaker card to share with you featuring the new Pumpkin Shaker dies and last year’s Grateful Script die for a beautiful sentiment.

I started by trimming a piece of kraft cardstock to 4×5.25 inches and then used the part of the pumpkin shaker die set that just cuts the windows. I inked the edges of the panel with gathered twigs distress oxide ink and splattered it with ground espresso. I cut the leaf and stem from green cardstock and inked them with rustic wilderness ink for dimension, then glued them to the kraft panel, popping up the leaf over the stem. Next, I lined the back of my panel with acetate and then foam tape, avoiding my shaker window.

I took a piece of white cardstock smaller than my kraft panel and inked it with ripe persimmon and spiced marmalade distress oxide ink. I splattered it with water and blotted it dry. Then I sprinkled some matte gold and espresso confetti bits on the panel and sealed them up with the pumpkin window panel.

I used liquid glue to adhere my shaker panel to white card base. Then, I pulled out the grateful script die that released last year and cut it out with Spellbinders peach die cutting glitter foam. I adhered this with liquid glue as well.

Then my card is all finished. I love how it turned out. Elegant and pretty, perfect for fall.

Products used:
Pumpkin Shaker dies
Grateful Script die
Confetti Bits – matte gold and espresso

Pink & Main – Halloween Gift Tags with Foilables

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m on the Pink & Main blog today sharing a fun use of some of the new Foilables for Halloween. I love giving little gifts for the holidays through the year but definitely for Halloween! So when I saw the new Halloween Icons Foilables pack I couldn’t resist making some gift tags with them.

I started by picking my favorite sheet from the pack. They’re all fantastic but there’s something about these mini images making up a bigger image that I thought was extra cool! Then I used the Layered Circles dies to cut them all out. I went digging through my foil and decided to showcase six different foils for you today…but you could absolutely just use one if your selection isn’t out of control yet like mine is. They will look amazing no matter what.

I ran these through my mini Minc machine three at a time so they had space without overlapping. After removing the foil transfer I inked the edges of each circle with a corresponding ink color. Then I splattered them all with black paint for extra texture and distressing. You know my style…I love splatter!

Next, I pulled out the Zig Zag Circles and cut the size up from the foiled circles in corresponding cardstock colors and also white. I used EZ Squeeze liquid glue to adhere the zigzags together before gluing the foiled ones on top. Then I just a hole punch from my drawer and threaded some twine through each one.

I intend to add these to a little bag or box of candy for coworkers on Halloween. How would you use them?

Products used:
Foilables – Halloween Icons
CheerFoil – sparkle orange, fairy wings peach, pebbles bronze, watercolor green, boysenberry and waterfall teal
Layered Circles dies
Zig Zag Circles dies
EZ Squeeze liquid glue
Mini Minc Machine
Ergonomic blending brushes

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 3

This week is flying by! Today is our last entry of release reveals and it’s so much fun! What NND release would be complete without a new Newton to create with!?! I hope you’ve loved everything and have your list ready to go for release day on Friday!

Candy Corn Newton stamps and dies

I know this is a large debate among many families…to candy corn or not? My daughter and I are candy corn fans, my husband not so much but my brother-in-law is outright repulsed by it. It’s become quite a joke and super fun this time of year.

For today’s card, I stamped and colored Newton plus the extra smaller candy corn images with copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I die cut a speech bubble and stamped my sentiment on that toward to top to leave room for the small images and switched to creating my background.

I cut four rectangles measuring 2×3 3/8 inches from two designs in the Halloween time paper pad. Then I folded one corner back on each one creating and opening in the center of my design. I glued them to a piece of teal cardstock and adhered the corners down with a foam square. Next I added Newton with foam squares, along with the speech bubble.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the face on the bucket and Newton’s nose. Isn’t this just super fun?!? Have I mentioned that I love spooky season!

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 2

For day 2 of the Newton’s Nook September Release reveals, we’ve got spooky fun with a new stamp and die set along with a new stencil. I’m sharing two cards with you featuring both!

Ghostly Good Time stamps and dies

Spooky Line stencil

I couldn’t believe after creating both of my cards for today, how cool they turned out but how easy they were to create also! Let’s start with a Ghostly Good Time, shall we?

I stamped and colored my images with copic markers, with no design in mind at all but I thought the images were too cute and I wanted to see them both. After that, I went flipping through the new Halloween Time paper pad and stopped in my tracks at this amazing scene panel that’s in it. Too perfect not to try!

So, I used my images as a guide for where to stamp and heat emboss my spooky sounds. After the heat embossing was done, I popped the images up with foam squares and decided on this awesome sentiment from the new Spooky Sentiments hot foil plates. It’s die cut with a Banner Duo die.

I really adore all of these awesome line stencils and truly enjoy making them the star of the show. so I inked up all the layers for this new one and then just framed it up with papers from the Halloween Time paper pad. I added another hot foiled sentiment banner and snagged that little ghost from Ghostly Good Time.

To add a little interest and sparkle because, well, it’s me, I added stardust Stickles to bits of each ghost. Isn’t this so fun!?!

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 1

Hello everyone! Spooky season is my very favorite and I’m happy to be starting release reveals for the Newton’s Nook September Release and it’s full of spooky goodness! Today we’re revealing a bunch of great products that we’ll be using throughout the week.

Labels Hot Foil dies and Halloween Apothecary stamps (labels fit the jar hot foil dies perfectly)

Spider Web and Spooky Sentiments hot foil plates (sentiments work perfectly with Banner Duo dies)

Halloween Time paper pad

Isn’t this collection of goodies an incredible start to release week?!? I had so much fun creating with it all. Today I have a card focusing on the Halloween Apothecary stamps and Labels hot foil plates.

I had grand ideas for my card today so I hot foiled a few jars in different colors, then did the same with the new labels. Then I used the coordinating dies and cut everything out. I ink blended each piece to coordinate with the color of hot foil and then heat embossed a different image on each label in colored embossing powder.

I was very determined to get all three awesome jars on my card so I swapped my A2 size card base out for A7 and absolutely love the outcome! I cut the largest A7 Frames die from black cardstock and then the next size down from lime green. I kept the pieces that cut the windows because I wanted a solid panel and just embraced the extra stitching texture.

My card base is inked with distress oxide in seedless preserves and splattered with water. I popped the black panel up with foam tape, glued the green down with liquid glue and then popped all of the jars up with foam tape as well.

Last of all, I curved the sentiment in Halloween Apothecary to match the skinny banner in the A7 Frames die set and stamped it in black ink. I added this with a combo of liquid glue and foam squares to keep it level with the jars.

Would you like to win the “Halloween Apothecary” Stamp Set? This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!
