The Newton’s Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats – just in time for Valentine’s Day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

I have 2 fun tags to share with you today – a coffee version and a hot cocoa version – to customize for your recipient.

To create my tags, I started by cutting four pink tags from the Fancy Edges Tag die set. Then I cut two more of the top half from white cardstock. I inked up two of the pink ones with the Petite Hearts stencil and some pink dye ink with a blending brush.

For the coffee tag, I stamped the sentiment from Love Cafe on the white tag topper portion, then lined up the scallop border and ran it through the die cutter. I also stamped the coffee cup image in the set and some hearts from Cup of Cocoa (which we’ll use on the next tag as well) and colored everything with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out and assembled my layers, popping up the images with foam squares.

For finishing touches, I added glossy accents to all of the hearts on the tag and the word “coffee” as well. Then I threaded pink baker’s twine through the hole and tied it to a bag of K-cups.

Switching gears to the hot cocoa tag, we need to do some simple masking. I placed the Love Cafe sentiment in my MISTI, put a sticky note over the word “coffee” and inked it up. I removed the sticky note and stamped the inked up portion of the sentiment on the tag topper. Then, I took the “It’s a HOT chocolate kind of day!” sentiment from Cup of Cocoa and did the same thing to mask off portions to only stamp “HOT chocolate” on the bottom of my tag.

I stamped mugs from Cup of Cocoa and Time for Coffee and colored them with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies for each set to cut them out and assembled my tag the same as the first one.

For finishing touches on this tag I added glossy accents to the hearts and dots on the mug. Then I also added unicorn Stickles to the whipped cream and marshmallows for a little sparkle to with with the shine.

I hope you enjoyed these fun tags and found some inspiration to create something wonderful to share with someone.

Miss Ink Stamps – Hip Hippo Hooray

Happy Thursday everyone! Thank you for stopping by. Today I have an adorable hippo card using stamps and a bunch of stencils layered for a cool background from Miss Ink Stamps.

I knew the general design I wanted to create so today I jumped straight in with my background panel. I chose a fun purple cardstock from my stash and sprayed the Fine Lines stencil with pixie spray. With delicate stencils like this pixie spray is your best friend, I promise! After letting it sit for a few minutes I pressed the stencil to my panel and inked up with a purple ink for that great tone-on-tone stripe! I love it! Next I used the Hand Drawn Hearts stencil with white pigment ink over the stripes. Then, last but not least, I used the Tiny Snowfall stencil and spread lovely lavender glitz glitter gel from Thermoweb through it.

I set that panel aside to dry and cleaned up my mess. Then I chose images from Hippo Hooray, stamped and colored them with my copics. I used the scan-n-cut to cut them out. For my scene, I die cut a circle with the Trinity Stamps embossed edge circle stack from teal cardstock. I inked up the bottom portion with a blending brush and brown dye ink, then I went around the rest of the edge with teal ink for a little depth.

I adhered the seaweed and rocks with liquid glue and popped all the critters up with foam squares. Then I popped the circle up on the stenciled panel with foam tape and adhered the whole thing to a white card base. Last, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on black cardstock and die cut it with a Pink & Main large sentiment strip die. I popped the sentiment up with foam squares and trimmed off the edge.

For finishing touches today I just added loads of fun white gel pen highlights to all the images. Then I added black glaze pen to the critter eyes and after it dried put a tiny white highlight back in. This really makes the eyes come to life. I love it!

Do you layer your stencils over top of each other? It’s a newer technique for me but I just love it every time I play with a new combo!

Thermoweb – Gift Tags with Flocking

Hey crafty friends! I’m over on the Thermoweb blog today sharing a couple of fun gift tags featuring Deco Foil Flock transfer sheets and a new way to use your slimline toner sheets!

The panel I used for my flocking was perfect to die cut 2 of these Reverse Confetti tags out of so I just ran with it and made a set of fun tags for the next time I have gifts to give.

I absolutely LOVE that I was able to create these fun rosettes with the slimline toner card fronts too! Each card front will give you 4 rosettes!!! Such a fun addition to the design.

Be sure to head over to the Thermoweb blog for all the details and a list of products I used to create these awesome tags!

Coffee Loving Cardmakers – Life Happens, Coffee Helps

Hello there! It’s time for Tuesday Tea over on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers today. I recently indulged in the overstock sale at Scrapbookpal.com and snagged a few things I had been resisting prior to now. When my order came in I just had to cut this cool MFT Stamps Color Block die immediately and play with it. It’s super fun to intertwine together, stack and layer.

After I cut it out in a rainbow of cardstock and played with it for a while, I came up with this cool background and thought I simple focal image would be perfect to turn it in to a card. When I was moving things around this weekend I rediscovered this awesome couple of stamp sets from Sweet ‘n’ Sassy Stamps – I Like Big Cups and Coffee Talk 2. The immediately came to mind when I was wanting an awesome image for my card.

I stamped the mug, then the sentiment inside, colored it with my copics and fussy cut it out. I always go around the edge with a black marker when I fussy cut things. It gives the image a much more finished look.

I popped the coffee mug up with foam squares and went digging in my stash for embellishments to dress things up a bit. Today I decided to use this awesome rainbow of bubbles from Trinity Stamps called Dewdrops. They are fantastic and add so much to the design today!

Super simple card today but the rainbow makes me smile and I just love both of those stamp sets I used too!

Jane’s Doodles – Love Is In The Air

Welcome everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I’m super excited to be over on the Jane’s Doodles blog today with a sweet card featuring the Love Is In The Air digital stamp set. These pups are absolutely adorable and so fun to color!

I printed out my images and colored them with my copic markers. Then I used the scan-n-cut to cut them all out and switch gears to my background.

I took an A2 white panel and inked up the layered hearts stencil set from Trinity Stamps with yellow dye inks and my blending brushes. I used 2 colors of ink, just a lighter hand on one layer and heavier on the second so the color gets darker with each layer closer to the center. Then I trimmed it down to 4×5.25 inches and splattered it with gold watercolor.

When the watercolor was dry, I popped the panel up with foam tape on a white card base and then added my images with foam squares too. Last, I die cut the sentiment with a large sentiment strip from Pink & Main and popped it up too. I trimmed anything hanging over the edge and moved on to finishing touches.

I started wtih glossy accents on the puppy noses and white gel pen accents but then I came back in with glossy accents on anything that looked metal on the plane, the dog’s goggles and tag. Finally I ended with unicorn Stickles on the clouds for a little more shimmer.

Isn’t this so fun!?! I was inspired by Nichol Spohr to ink my background like this and I just love how it turned out. Click HERE to see her video that inspired me.

Pink & Main – Hap-pea When I’m With You

Happy Friday friends! That means it’s time for another fantastic bit of inspiration featuring Pink & Main goodies! I’m sharing this sparkly, non-traditional Valentine card over on their blog today.

This was an idea that popped in my head while I was at work and I could not wait to get home and try it out! I’m so happy it turned out as cute as it did too!

I started by stamping and coloring images from One Smart Cookie with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and set them aside. I stamped and heat embossed the coordinating sentiment to my main image on black cardstock and cut it out with a large sentiment strip too.

Next, it was time to get inky and messy. I took a white panel and inked up the first layer (solid hearts) of the new conversation hearts stencil set with orange ink. Then I switched to the second layer and used a palette knife to spread glossy gel through the stencil. I removed the stencil and sprinkled emerald super fine glitter all over the panel and set it aside to dry.

Once it was dry, I die cut it with the second to largest stackable rectangle die and added foam tape to the back of it. I popped it on a white card base and die cut the next to largest reverse scallop rectangle frame adding it to the card front with foam strips too. Last, I added my images and sentiment banner with foam squares.

For finishing touches I added white gel pen highlights to the images and glossy accents to the hearts floating above the cute veggie couple.

Isn’t this card so silly and fun!?! I think so and I had so much fun creating it too!

Miss Ink Stamps – Sending Big Bear Hugs

Happy Thursday everyone! It’s time for some more inspiration from the Miss Ink Stamps area of my craft room. Today I’m sharing a scene card featuring the Bear Hugs stamp set. I hadn’t played with this one yet because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to create. So instead of having a plan, I stamped all the images from the set and just sat down for a while and colored. It was fantastic!

I used the scan-n-cut to cut everything out and just started playing with the images like little paper dolls. Moving them here and there, arranging them in different mini scenes until I finally landed on this super sweet, very full night time scene.

I inked up an A2 size panel with tea dye, gathered twigs and chipped sapphire distress oxide inks. I spritzed the panel and flicked gold watercolor on the sky portion. While that was drying I decided which images were layering together and used liquid glue to adhere them. Then I added foam tape to the back of everything, doubling up in some areas.

I adhered the inked panel to a white card base and added my images starting with the cave and first baby bear. I worked my way out from there. Last, I added the small tree in the distance, the moon and sentiment directly to the card front with liquid glue.

For finishing touches I just added glossy accents to the bear’s noses and the moon. Then I added unicorn Stickles to the yellow part of the campfire flames.

I absolutely adore this scene and how it all came together. These images are so sweet and fun to color!

Bear Hugs stamps

Newton’s Nook – Donut Know What I’d Do…

Happy Wednesday crafty friends! Today I’m over on the Newton’s Nook blog with a fun donut themed card. I kept my colors muted for a more masculine feel to help those in need of some boy-ish Valentine/love inspiration.

I started by stamping and coloring my image from Newton’s Donut with my copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut him out. Where I had a general design in mind, I hadn’t chose details like backgrounds and such. So I went digging in my stash for a stencil or something that fit but nothing was working. Then I pulled out the new Love & Meows paper pad and found these fantastic patterned papers and everything just fell into place.

I cut the brown paper from the largest Frames & Flags die and the blue paper from the next-to-largest Circle Frame die. Then I cut a banner from the Banner Trio set and stamped my sentiment. Using my image as a guide, I trimmed the side off the circle and also trimmed the extra off the sentiment strip. Now we’re ready to assemble.

We popped the brown panel up with foam tape and popped the circle up on that. Then We added foam squares to Newton and added him next. Finally we added foam squares to the sentiment strip and added it to the bottom right. But things are looking a little plain and boring…

So I went digging and found this teeny heart in the Speech Bubbles die set. I cut it from light pink cardstock 3 times and popped them up with foam squares too. They were just the perfect addition.

For finishing touches I started with glossy accents on Newton’s nose and toe beans. Then I added it to the circle sprinkles on the donut too. Not enough shine. So I came in with unicorn Stickles on the other sprinkles and liked it a little more but this made the hearts look really plain because the patterned paper has a shine. So I went for it and covered the pink hearts with glossy accents and I absolutely love it!

I hope you enjoyed today’s creation and found some inspiration to create something wonderful to share with someone.

Trinity Stamps – Sweet Shop Release Day

Hey crafty friends! I’m super excited to be apart of the release day hop for Trinity Stamps’ Sweet Shop Release today! We’re having an Instagram hop that I’ll link to at the bottom so you can enter for a chance to win. But first, I have 3 projects to share today featuring goodies from the new release!

First, up I’ve got this fun card featuring the new Bon Bon Box stamps and dies plus a sentiment from the Simply Sentimental Love stamps. Isn’t this chocolate box so fun! There are little stamps in the set to decorate your chocolates too. I heat embossed them white for fun but you could do so many things to customize your box of chocolates. I love it!

I also used the Marshmallow Alphabet dies to cut the word love before popping up my mini sentiment strip on the top. Then I finished things off with white clay heart embellishments.

Next up I have this card featuring just the Simply Sentimental Love stamps and dies with some jelly drop heart embellishments. Isn’t this so fun!?! I just stamped the love using my MISTI and shifted it down 3/4 inch between each color change. Then for the last one, I used the die cut and shadow instead of stamping it.

Once the stamping was done, before adding my die cuts and embellishments I splattered gold watercolor across the design for some texture and shimmer. I think it’s the perfect addition.

I trimmed the panel down to 5.5×4 inches and added a strip of gold glitter cardstock to my card base before popping the stamped panel up with foam tape. I absolutely love how this card turned out!

Last but not least, I have a pillow box and tag with the new Cozy Bear Sweet Shop stamps and dies. This was so much fun to create! I stamped a few images from the set and colored them with my copic markers. Then I cut a pink tag using the slimline tag dies and stamped the counter plus some extras to sit on the counter with light brown ink. I added foam squares to the images, including the sentiment and popped them up on the tag.

I die cut a teal pillow box and randomly stamped the smaller candy images from the set all over it in a teal ink for a tone-on-tone look. I added scrappy tape to the tab and assembled my box. I wound red twine from my stash around the box and threaded the tag through before tying it in a bow.

For finishing touches I added black glaze pen to the bears’ eyes and glossy accents to the their noses, bowtie and lollipop. Just a little shine goes a long way to make the characters come to life.

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects! This is a super fun release with lots of year round possibilities. Click HERE to head to the Instagram hop.
