Spellbinders – Zodiac Blocks with Better Press

Hi friends! Another collection that released yesterday with Spellbinders are these awesome Better Press plates available in all of the zodiac signs. They come with the star layout, the name of the zodiac with dates and a sentiment that goes with that sign. They all go together perfectly, and come with a guide to press them on your panel perfectly spaced out.

I was able to play with the Sagittarius and Cancer signs early and decided to create cards with similar layouts but different colorways feeding off of the zodiac signs themselves.

I chose the Simon Hurley Starry Night 3D emboss and cut with stencils set to create my backgrounds. This is such a cool combo. You emboss and cut your panel at the same time, then use the stencils to color your stars with blending brushes or pastes!

I created 2 starry night backgrounds and glued them to card fronts. Then I glued contrasting strips along the straight edge and popped my zodiac panels up with foam tape on that.

Spellbinders – Aged to Perfection

It’s release day for Spellbinders and one of the fun collections releasing is called Aged to Perfection. It’s punny and fun to create with. I had the opportunity to create with the OMG dies and had so much fun thinking of ways to use them. I love the block letters with shadows to create depth.

The first card I created, I couldn’t resist pairing with the recently released Simon Hurley Birthday Bear dies. It can create a regular brown, black or polar bear but also has the extra pieces to create a panda! My favorite!

After cutting and assembling all the pieces to my sentiment and panda, I embossed a background panel using the Floating Balloons 3D embossing folder. I spritzed the panel with distress oxide sprays and then flicked white paint for more texture.

Once that was dry, I glued the panel to a white card base and used foam tape to pop up the panda and OMG sentiment. I can think of a dozen ways to use this card given the expression of the panda and the fun, but open-ended OMG sentiment.

Doodlebugs – One of a Kind

Happy Mix it up Monday everyone! I’m working my way out of all things valentine and into some fun spring ideas; I hope you don’t mind. Today we’re playing with ladybugs and big beautiful sentiments! I love that combo!

The start of this was purely to play with the Pretty Pink Posh Ladybugs layered stencil set. I inked up the body layer with a combo of red and orange inks because you see such a variety of ladybug colors anymore and I thought they should all be here. Then to finish the stenciling off, I spread black widow Stellar Paste through the dots for some shine.

While that panel was drying, I stamped images from Pretty Pink Posh Lovely Ladybugs and colored them with copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and then moved on to heat embossing a sentiment from Waffle Flower’s Old Friend Sentiments stamp and die combo. I went ahead and also stamped and die cut the sub sentiment using Lawn Fawn lobster ink.

Digging through my cardstock I found this great melon color and decided it was the perfect base for my card front. After trimming it down, I glued it to a card base and used a corner rounder on opposing corners. Then I trimmed the stenciled panel down to 4×5.25 inches and rounded the same corners. This panel is popped up on the card front with foam tape. Then the sentiments and ladybugs are all added with foam squares as well.

For finishing touches on today’s card, I just added glossy accents to the dots and antennae of the colored ladybug images.

Doodlebugs – Valentine Mini Note Cards

Over the years I have done many different things to celebrate Valentine’s Day differently at home. One year I made a scavenger hunt for my daughter to find her gift, another year I made a mini tag or card to tape to her door every morning leading up to the day, and others I make a card or tag to give my daughter and husband on the holiday. As I was creating these mini note cards I was thinking they would be perfect lunchbox notes on random days in February to brighten anyone’s day.

I made 5 note cards because I simply couldn’t resist stamping and coloring all of the adorable versions of the Lawn Fawn Critter Conversation Hearts! After coloring, I stamped a senitment in each heart and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Next, I took notes from Mona Toth and added vellum wings to their backs using the Lawn Fawn Build-a-Critter Valentine Accessories die set.

Then, for each one I die cut the Pretty Pink Posh Mini Scallop Card from teal cardstock and the decorative panel from pink. I used the Pretty Pink Posh Layered Hearts stencils to add a little interest behind the images. Nothing crazy, just Lawn Fawn ballet slippers pink on pink. I glued the panel to the card fronts and popped the critters up with foam squares. The designs are finished off with some white gel pen highlights on the hearts.

Do you have any fun Valentine traditions or ways of celebrating to share?

Doodlebugs – Sending Love Valentine Mice

Welcome everyone! It’s time for Mix it up Monday with Doodlebugs! Still in my Valentine vibe and every time Lawn Fawn comes out with more cute mice, I must play with them! I just adore their little stances and cute faces!

Today’s card started by stamping all the images from the Lawn Fawn Valentine Mice set and coloring with copic markers. This is a mid-size set so it’s great for your pocket book but complete enough to use it on projects on its own too. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out and set it aside to figure out my background.

While I was digging around for a stencil or embossing folder for my background, I remembered these awesome Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Heart dies from last year and thought they would be perfect! So I started cutting them from all my red and pink scraps. Then, because it’s me, I didn’t want a plain background so I spritzed distress sprays on a piece of white cardstock to add color and texture at the same time. Then I glued my hearts directly to that.

Then I added foam squares to the back of my mice and the mini sentiment that amazingly has a coordinating die to it and placed them in different areas of the card. Triangles are appealing to the eye so I keep that in mind when positioning focal points.

Last, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Valentine Mice stamp set and trimmed it into a couple of sentiment strips. These are popped up with foam strips. Then I finished the design off with a touch of glossy accents on mouse noses and the baby hearts.

Status check, have you created anything Valentine themed yet???

Ranger Ink | Simon Hurley Create – Berry Best

Happy Friday friends! I’m back with another card featuring different products in the Ranger Ink | Simon Hurley Create Berry Best release. This card actually came about because of my previous card on Tuesday. It’s funny but I hadn’t opened the dies for the coordinating stamp set until I needed them. It wasn’t until then that I realized it’s a dual die set! It can be used with and without the stamps! So naturally I started playing around immediately!

I cut all the pieces from white cardstock so I could use my Stellar Inks and blending brushes to add color on my own. And, of course they had to be chocolate covered the moment I had the option! So after I die cut and ink blended all the pieces, I used liquid glue to assemble everything and get a good idea what I had to work with. They’re SO GOOD!!!

I wanted a background but something quiet and soft so my strawberry die cuts really popped. I pulled out the Very Berry stencils again and, without reinking my blending brushes added color using my red, green and brown brushes. I trimmed that panel down to 3.75×5 inches and used my Spellbinders corner notch punch on the corners to give interest.

Next, I adhered the strawberries together and added foam tape to the back of them. I used them as a guide where to stamp my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in my MISTI before actually adhering the strawberries in place. This time I used love bomb ink for the sentiment.

Wanting a contrast between the stenciled panel and the card front, I knew I didn’t want it white but I wasn’t convinced of a color. This often ends up in my choosing layers to get multiple colors so I don’t have to choose. Hence my border panel that is also notch punched and my card front color – I couldn’t choose one or the other of those to go with my design. But I do love the combo!

Newton’s Nook – Love Quarry

Hi everyone! Today I’m back on the Newton’s Nook blog with a Valentine themed card featuring one of my all-time favorite sets – Love Quarry! It’s punny and so cute! Also fun to color and create with in a variety of ways!

Today I stayed with a more traditional color palette throwing in a splash of my favorite teal to break things up. I stamped and colored images from the set and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next I ink blended the Bokeh Hearts stencil set on a piece of teal cardstock before die cutting it with the rounded rectangle found in the Frames & Flags die set. While the set was out, I also die cut a white panel using the largest die in the set.

Back to the teal panel, after die cutting it I spread texture paste through the Petite Hearts stencil for dimensional texture as well.

After the texture paste dried, I stamped my sentiment on the upper right corner and started arranging my images. This is what I thought having a “ground” for my cement mixer would be awesome and I pulled out the Valentine Word Trio dies! Finding coordinating cardstock colors, I cut and paper pieced the XOXO panel together. Then I adhered it all to the teal panel with foam squares.

There’s never a shortage of dimension on my cards. So now that the teal panel is perfect, I popped it up on the white pane with foam tape and then added that to a red card base. For finishing touches I added glossy accents to parts of the truck and cones. It makes such a difference!

Are you creating Valentine goodies yet?

Ranger Ink | Simon Hurley Create – Thank You BERRY Much

As promised I’m back with another card featuring a couple of the products in the new Ranger Ink | Simon Hurley Create release. Today we’re using the background stamp again and the full Berry Best stamp set.

I don’t often stamp my coloring even when the solid stamps are in a set, I like to color. But today I wanted to give it a try and I loved it! Using this new Berry Best stamp set and my Stellar inks I just played. I stamped the outlines in black widow – two sets of everything on the stamp sheet.

The first round of strawberries are stamped in bee sting and because I didn’t have a plan I stamped the second set in love bomb to see the contrast. Then I stamped the leaves in later gator and the flowers in shooting star. I used the coordinating dies to cut these out and just started playing around. Originally thinking two cards with the different sets of strawberries. Then I realized they were the perfect length so create the design I have here.

Once I had my design estimated. I stamped the dotted leaves background stamp on a piece of light green cardstock using iced out ink. I glued that to a white card base with liquid glue. Next I arranged my strawberries along the seam and picked them up with a strip of post-it tape. This is where I was able to glue the leaves down to the card front and add foam squares to the strawberries to pop them up.

Then I removed the post-it tape and glued the flowers on top. I added the whole thing to my MISTI and stamped a sentiment using love bomb ink and finished the design off with stardust Stickles in the center of the flowers.

Doodlebugs – Cutest Cupid Around

Hey friends! I’m back with a Doodlebugs Mix it Up Monday post for you! I haven’t been the greatest at getting these written up but we all have goals right?!? I’ve been having fun creating Valentine themed things for a bit now and I’m so excited to start sharing them!

I couldn’t wait to play with the new Lawn Fawn Valentine accessories for the build-a-critters! And I love this bunny so it was the perfect combo! I did a little ink blending for depth and some white gel pen highlights on the nose and eyes. So cute!

Next, I ink blended a white panel with the Pretty Pink Posh layered hearts stencil set. I used Lawn Fawn inks – ballet slippers and lobster with blending brushes. Then I die cut the Pretty Pink Posh Love Word Shaker from the center of the panel.

I glued the negative of the panel to a red panel and added that to a card base but it wasn’t working for me. So I popped up the actual die cut for a subtle raised look. Then I added the cupid bunny to that with more foam squares.

I was mindful to use a top fold card base when I assembled my card so that I could easily wrap and tie some twine around the top of the card to finish the design off. This twine has a strand of silver sparkle in it too!

Ranger Ink – A BERRY Cute Simon Hurley Release Day

Hey friends! I’m going to be popping in and out the next week with some really fun inspiration with today’s Ranger Ink | Simon Hurley Create release! It’s the BERRY cutest and most fun to create with for sure!

Today I have a pair of cards I created using one stenciled background torn in two! That’s right, I inked the new Very Berry stencils with my Stellar Inks and blending brushes, used some new stellar paste on the final layer, let it all dry and tore it in two pieces.

Then I cut two teal card bases and stamped the new Dotted Leaves on those with iced out Stellar Ink. I took the stenciled pieces and added foam tape to the back before popping them up on the teal card bases and also inked the torn edges for added interest. I like how this looks on the raw edge.

After adding those torn panels, I chose sentiments from the new Berry Best stamp set and stamped them in the bee string and loch ness ink colors that my ink blending was done with.

This is such a fun release with so many options to create different styles of projects! This is just the tip of the iceberg for what I’ve created. So, stay tuned!
