Waffle Flower – New Release

Oh my goodness everyone! I’m so excited to be part of the new release of updated Waffle Flower Grip Mats! They’re even better than before plus there are new sizes that make so much sense for different styles of crafters!

There are different bundles available as you can see above, or there is a the complete bundle for all the sizes too. I was sent the Stencil Bundle which is absolutely perfect for how I use the mats. I highly recommend them for all types of crafters because they can be used in a variety of ways. Today I have a couple of cards to share with you that I created using the new Grip Mats and some fabulous Waffle Flower stencil sets.

First off, I knew it was prime time to pull out the new Postal Collage 4th of July stencil set! So, I die cut the postal collage base from white cardstock and placed it on my mat. Today I used the 5.5×8.5 mat and it was perfect. I inked up layer after layer, keeping my paper in place on the mat, just swapping out the next layer of the stencil set.

My final stencil layer was when I added Thermoweb transfer gel blanco instead of ink. Everything stayed in place perfectly, even when spreading the paste around and scraping the excess off. I removed the last stencil and peeled my postal collage off to set aside and dry. The paper stayed in place but also peeled off easily without warping or bending it either.

Once the transfer gel was dry, I placed shattered gold transfer foil on the panel and ran it through my mini Minc. The reveal was so fun on this panel. I love the sparkle and shine on it! From there I pulled out the Postal Collage and Postal Collage 4th of July stamp sets to add details to my stamp sheet. This was scary at first but really fun as I got more comfortable.

Last, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Postal Collage 4th of July and cut it with a banner die. I added a piece of patterned paper from the Berry Sweet Gingham paper pad to a white card base, popped the postal collage up with foam squares and then popped the sentiment banner up on that.

There was no way I was stopping at one card with my Grip Mat out and begging to be played with. Stenciling on this tool is addicting because it takes stress and anxiety out of the equation.

I chose the Sweet Strawberry stamp, die and stencil combo to create with next. I stamped my image on a piece of white cardstock and then transferred it to my Grip Mat. I immediately went to work inking up section by section to color my image in. It was so smooth and really fun!!!

Once the inking was done, I die cut a Sweet Lattice panel from teal cardstock. Layering it over my white card base was too stark so I inked the card front up with tattered rose distress oxide ink. Then I spritzed it with water and flicked white paint on the card front and lattice panel.

Once that was all dry, I popped the lattice panel up with foam strips, and did the same with my strawberries and sentiment with foam squares. Moving on to finishing touches, I went ahead with some subtle clear enamel dots looking like dew drops on the image.

I know it was a lot today but I really hope you’ll check out the Waffle Flower Grip Mats, and then think about the other pretty goodies too. These Grip Mats are all they’re cracked up to be and more. It’s a fabulous tool that you will not regret purchasing. And if you have to choose one size, go a little bigger than you think so you can get more use out of it down the road if your crafting style changes.

Doodlebugs – A Berry Fun Full Card Front Shaker

Welcome to mix-it-up Monday on the Doodlebugs blog! We’re creating a quick and fun full card front shaker with a summery strawberry theme. We’ve had a little relapse in weather but I’m not giving up on summer crafting in the slightest!

I started my card today by inking up the Waffle Flower Strawberries background stencil set. To be sure the ink showed up really well on my kraft base, I used distress oxide inks. The colors I chose were candied apple, pine needles, mowed lawn and mustard seed. Then I spread a little glossy gel through the final seed layer for subtle shiny details.

Once the glossy gel was dry, I trimmed the panel to 4×5.25 inches and wrapped a Waffle Flower shaker cover around it. I only adhered 3 sides at first, pouring in my shaker bits and then securing the last side down. I used tear tape for this because it’s strong and instant. I find it works best with the plastic shaker covers. My sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and Spellbinders.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Fresh Berries and used the coordinating die to cut it out. Then I stamped another small sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strips | Valentine and cut it out with the smallest Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strip die. I adhered both of these to the front of my shaker panel with foam strips.

Last of all, I added more tear tape to the back of the shaker panel and adhered it to a white card base. Once again, the tear tape is great against the plastic and gives you instant bond.

Now, just give it a little shake, shake, shake and it’s ready to go!

Waffle Flower – Gull-tastic Birthday

Welcome everyone. Thanks for stopping by today. I recently picked up the majority of the amazing Waffle Flower summer release with all of its beachy glory! I simply couldn’t choose and will be going back for the rest of it soon. It’s just too much fun!

I started this card by just playing with the Waffle Flower Beach Umbrella die and stencil combo and the Inquisitive Seagulls dies. Both of these products are so fun and could be used for lots of types of cards too.

Next, I took a piece of kraft cardstock, inked the edges and random stamped the sand texture included in the Inquisitive Seagulls stamp set. After that I took a scrap of teal cardstock and inked it with peacock feathers and splattered it with water. After that dried I stamped a sentiment with Lawn Fawn peacock ink. I love the subtle tone-on-tone look here.

Next, I glued the kraft layer to the bottom of a card base and the teal to the top section. Then I took a strip of white cardstock and tore the edges to resemble the foam of the wave coming in. I glued that down and then added the umbrella with foam squares and seagulls with liquid glue.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the seagull eyes and center of the umbrella.

Loving this new release and very excited to have some more time to play around with the rest of what I snagged very soon.

Waffle Flower – Smile, Sending Paper Hugs

Welcome everyone. Thanks so much for stopping by. I finally picked up some older Waffle Flower goodies that I’ve been wanting and was so excited to play with them. First off, I had to create a whole army of sweet bees just to play with. Then I actually made a card with one and saved the rest for later.

The die set for the bees is called Happy Bee. I chose this one that looks like it’s sitting so I could also use the Sweet Poppy die. It’s so pretty and having the bee sit in it just makes me happy.

For my sentiment, I used the Oversized Smile die. I cut three of them and used liquid glue to adhere them together. After assembling the poppy with that cute bee, I cut a piece of cardstock to 3.75×5 inches and inked it lightly with teal and green for a background panel. I also splattered it with a little water for some texture.

I popped the background panel up with foam tape on a white card base and then used liquid glue to adhere the flower and smile die cuts. Last, I popped up the sentiment strips with foam strips.

I’m really excited to play with more of the bee themed goodies, but also the new 4th of July and beach release too! It’s so fun!

Waffle Flower – Shader Brush GIVEAWAY

Hey friends!!! I’m so excited to be hosting a giveaway for a Waffle Flower Shader Brush Sampler Pack! Today I have two cards that I created testing out all of the shapes and sizes of the new brushes.

They are awesome and so useful, but I think I definitely have a couple favorites. I feel like this is an amazing reason to have the sampler pack available. This way you can play and test, decide what you will really use and buy the big pack for all your different ink colors of just what you need.

I created both of these backgrounds, back-to-back, and then while the messy one was drying, created the pink card and came back to my blue card. It worked out pretty well and they were really fun to create.

I’m mildly obsessed with this adorable Folk Art Reindeer and have made about a dozen of them in different colorways. Since I have so many on hand already, I created my background with the thought of adding this beauty to my card front.

Using the two smaller shader brushes, I added teal and blue inks to one layer of the Folk Art stencil. Then I added glitter paste through the second layer. The small brushes allowed me to do this without contamination or cleaning my stencil in between colors. It was great.

Then I cut a scalloped circle and used a bigger shader brush to add color around the edge and added everything to my card front with foam tape.

For this second card, I used the wider shader brush to fill in the long, larger areas of the bow and a small shader brush for the small spots. Again, it made the whole process easy and kept ink contamination to zero in the different areas.

I went direct-to-paper with the pink ink pad on my card front to make the border match the bows. Then popped the panel and sentiments up with foam tape.

Waffle Flower – New Shader Brushes are Magic

Hey friends! Stopping by today to share a new crafting tool on the market. Waffle Flower has stepped up the blending brush game again. They’ve got new blending brushes in different styles and they make adding multiple colors to small areas a breeze. Low stress and fun to blend different colors in small spaces!

I made a few cards with this amazing die and stencil combo a few weeks ago but I couldn’t resist pulling out out again to play with these brushes. I mixed and matched pink, purple, orange and brown together for some beautiful leaves!

Then I trimmed the panel down and glued it to a kraft card base. I cut my sentiment three times and glued those together offset before adding them to my leaf panel. I popped up a sentiment strip that I thought went well and pulled the leaves up for added dimension.

Another amazing part to the Waffle Flower blending brushes is that they come in packs. We all like to have a color family for each brush and this makes it super simple to do.

Pop Up Fall Leaves Panel die

Waffle Flower – Sneak Peek Kit #09

Hey friends! I am super excited to be sharing with you a look at the Waffle Flower Sneak Peek Kit #09! These kits give subscribers a peek at the next upcoming release before it’s available for purchase! They have all been amazing so far and this one is no different!

I couldn’t help myself and created three cards straight away, in one crafting session. It was so fun, I just couldn’t stop!

For my first card, I had to try inking on kraft cardstock. Nothing says fall to me more than those muted natural colors and I was excited to play. So I cut the panel from kraft using the die from the kit and lined up my stencil to ink blend. The kit also comes with one of the detail blender brushes which is so cool!

The sentiment die used on all my cards is also part of the kit. For this card I cut the shadow from vellum and the words from the same dark brown as my card front. I used liquid glue and adhered everything together.

Sticking with the same colors but a brighter background, I mimicked the same idea on a white panel to see the difference it would give. Oh my wow is it huge!

This time I cut the sentiment from gold foil cardstock, also lined my card front with is so that’s what shows through the lifted leaves. The sentiment shadow is cut from black cardstock this time for a bold statement on this card.

Next, I just had to try making a shaker window from the shadow die in the sentiment. I don’t think to create shakers all that often but this one was a must do for me.

This is also a great was to show that you don’t have to use the cover plate die with the stencil. This is a pretty stencil on it’s own as well.

I took some of the shaker bits and glued them across the design to give it a little extra without the die cut details. I also had fun trying non-traditional colors on this card too.

Waffle Flower – Grip Mats Revisited Christmas Edition

Hey everyone! I couldn’t resist but come back with another card featuring the amazing new Grip Mats from Waffle Flower. They’re so cool and my first crafting session left me with lots of goodies to create fun cards with! So today I’m back using some of their new Christmas in July release along with the grip mats.

***Remember you can still comment on my INSTAGRAM post from Tuesday for a chance to win! Or just use the links at the bottom of this post to snag your own now!***

OMG! How freaking cute is this pupper!?! I’m in love with him and had a blast creating this card specifically to use him on! Let’s check out the process again, shall we?

Add your grip mat to your work surface. Any surface will do that I can tell so far. I have a self healing mat but I’ve tried it on a glass mat and a regular desk too. All stuck great!

This time we’re going to ink blend the super cool Multiple Presents Die-n-Stencil combo. Both times I did this (you can see my first attempt at the top of my panel…quality control to see if my brain was processing this properly) I started at the top and worked my way down one line at a time. Leave your cardstock in place and move the stencil, inking each layer.

It’s really just that easy. I didn’t even clean the stencil until I was completely finished with the last layer.

Keep going, we’re almost there. Remember, especially things like these presents, are great for all celebrations…not just Christmas. Mix and match your colors for birthdays, just for fun, celebrate everything!

Okay, my gifts are inked, looking super adorable and my panel peeled off the grip mat flawlessly. It doesn’t curl or anything. I lined up the die and cut these out. Now I have 8 separate gift images inked and ready for crafting!

Another fantastic use of the grip mat is to hold images in place. For this card, I used it to play with arrangement of my presents. I mixed and matched things deciding how I wanted them layered. Then I used a strip of post-it tape to pull them off and set them aside until I was ready to add them to my card.

I forgot to photograph it but I also used the mat to hold the pieces of my pup while I ink blended them too. They didn’t budge a millimeter even with the blending brush pushing on them.

So I assembled my pup and his sweet Santa hat, gluing everything together with liquid glue. But when I was arranging everything on my card, I thought the background was lacking. So I grabbed my grip mat and Paw Print stencil duo and inked it up two two different green inks for some texture.

For assembly, I popped the green panel up on a white card base with foam tape. Then liquid glue for my pup and finally foam tape for the gifts. I even saved one to add to the puppy’s paws too. It’s so cute!

Last, I added a preprinted sentiment strip with liquid glue and some Touch of Gloss to the pup’s eyes and nose.

Be Christmas Accessories dies
Multiple Presents Die-n-Stencil
Paw Prints stencil duo

Waffle Flower – Grip Mat Launch Party

Hey friends! I’m over the moon to have a fun card and tutorial to share with you today featuring the new Waffle Flower Grip Mats! They’re so cool, easy to use and definitely handy to have in your crafty tool stash! I officially, highly recommend!

Today I tested them with ink blending multiple layers and spreading glitter paste for my base card panel. It worked beautifully and seamlessly. Let’s take a step by step look at things.

I grabbed all my pieces, plus a panel of white A2 size cardstock to ink on. This will be cut down later but it’s always smart to start bigger and trim later.

Die cut your panel with the pop-up butterflies background die so you can line up your stencils.

Place your grip mat on your work surface, then add your cardstock and finally line up your layer 1 stencil over that. I’m using a 6×6 grip mat today so there is an edge to hold the stencil around my paper. It’s perfect!

I ink blended layer 1 of the stencil, swapped for layer 2 adding a different color. Then I was feeling froggy so I added layer 1 back in place and spread glitter glaze over the top. The cardstock held perfectly the entire time and each stencil stayed perfectly in place while I was using it too!

Here’s my panel, peeled off the grip mat to be set aside to dry. I suppose you could leave it on the grip mat to dry but let’s be real…I immediately grabbed another piece of cardstock and kept playing because this thing was AWESOME!

After the panel was done drying, I die cut it with an infinity rectangle die and popped it up on a piece of blue cardstock that coordinated with my blue ink blending. Then I cut the Oversized Smile word from Spellbinders die cutting glitter foam and the shadow from vellum. I used liquid glue to adhere them together and to my card front.

Last, I glued the panel to a white card base and then went around creasing my butterflies open where the sentiment would allow. Isn’t this just beautiful?!?

I’m so happy with how it turned out and truly believe it was smoother and easier using the grip mats. Be sure to check them out, affiliate links below. But also, head to my Instagram and enter to with an A2 grip mat to test out yourself! Commenting closes July 30 for that.
