Newton’s Nook – Reach for the Stars

Hello friends! Welcome to a new week! Today marks the start of the Cat Lover’s Hop which Newton’s Nook is a sponsor of. They’ll be showcasing some fun inspiration on Friday but I wanted to jump in early with an extra card share for you.

I started my card by inking up a panel with fossilized amber, spiced marmalade, blueprint sketch, faded jeans and black soot distress inks. I spritzed it with water and blotted it dry. Then I flicked some gold watercolor on it. Next, I used the cascading stars stencil with some champagne metallix gel for my sky.

I pulled out Cosmic Newton, stamped a couple of images and colored them with my copics. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out next. I needed to create a ground for my images so I inked up a small panel with evergreen bough and twisted citron distress ink and spritzed it with water. When it was dry, I used the land borders dies to cut a grassy top and adhered it to my stenciled panel. Using the images as a guide I stamped my sentiment on the bottom right.

With my background complete, I adhered it to a white card base and then popped my images up with foam squares. For finishing touches I added some glossy accents to the planet, shooting star and glass on the telescope and of course Newton’s nose.

This is not my typical sky color combo but it was so fun to play around and I love how it turned out. What are your favorite combos for sky colors? I’d love to hear in the comments.
