Coffee Loving Cardmakers – Kind Heart

Hey friends! It’s Tuesday Tea with Twiddler’s Nook on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog today. I have a fun coffee mug shaped card to share with you featuring a new distress oxide ink blend combo that I LOVE paired with some Reverse Confetti cuties!

Most of the time I ink blend and then die cut but today I cut out my coffee mug first and blended distress oxide inks in abandoned coral, kitsch flamingo and tattered rose. Isn’t this mix just amazing?!? I love it! Then I splattered some black acrylic paint on the whole panel and set it aside to dry.

I stamped and colored images from the Reverse Confetti Coffee and You stamp set. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and set them aside. Now that my panel was dry, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from My Tribe in black. I added foam squares to the elephant and mouse on the stool and added them to the front.

And then, for grins, I added the other mouse directly to the back of the card. It makes me giggle.

For finishing touches, I added white gel pen accents to the images, black glaze pen to their eyes and glossy accents to things like the mouse’s nose, elephants feet and the star on the coffee cup.

Heffy Doodle – Color to my World Light Up Card

Hello there everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by! Today I have an adorable light up card to share with you featuring a bunch of great new products from the most recent Heffy Doodle release. Today’s card was inspired by their monthly challenge over in the Heffy Doodlers Facebook group – Bright Ideas.

I had this idea to create a rainbow of pandas as soon as I saw this set and as my thoughts progressed, I decided it would also be really cool if their paint brushes and markers lit up like they were magic! So I combined the ideas and we have today’s card!

To start today’s card, I stamped and colored the images I wanted to use. I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out and then laid them out how I wanted to arrange them. This was I could “assign” the accessories to each panda and glue them in place. Next I moved on to the background panel so I could get started on the light up portion. For that, I die cut the slimline scalloped panel from Heffy Doodle pull tab die set and inked it up with the messy desk stencil. I put my pandas in place and then used a long strip of post-it tape to tape them all together. I carefully marked with a pencil behind each brush or marker I wanted to light up so I could punch out a circle for the light to shine through.

Above you can see the pandas all taped together so nothing moves between punching holes and gluing things in place. On the stenciled panel you can see the larger hole on the left was a random circle die I found in a set I had on hand. (Guaranteed you have something that will work.) The other two holes are really small from a Fiskars hole punch I had in my stash that is the perfect size for the lights to shine. You can also see that I stamped my sentiments already in preparation for adding the lighting mechanism to the back of this panel. Let’s look at that next.

I am using the Pear Blossom Press EZ Lights today. The name says it all. It’s so simple! No copper tape, no guess work. Pretty much plug-n-play. 😉 I added scrappy tape to the back of the battery pack and popped it in place (where I stamped the “press me” sentiment on the front). Then taped each light in place with some more scrappy tape. (Here I just don’t remove the release paper on the back and it holds them perfectly in place! Once this was done, I added double-layer foam tape to the back of the panel excluding the battery pack and popped it on a black slimline card base.

Adding liquid glue to the line of pandas I had on my post-it tape, I put them in place next. Then I moved on to some simple finishing touches of just adding glossy accents to the panda noses, paint and marker tips.

I had so much fun creating this scene! I hope you like it and found some inspiration to create something fun and share it with someone! My daughter has chosen to steal this card from me so it won’t be going in the mail. But she’s super excited about it so it’s all worth it.

MFT Stamps – Friend-A-Saurus

Hi again! I’m back with my second entry into the MFT Stamps Wednesday Sketch Challenge and it’s SO CUTE! I just had to pull out these sweet dinos that I got for Christmas! I’ve only used them one other time and was so happy to ink them up again!

To create my card, I started by choosing the image I wanted to use out of the set, stamped and colored them with my copics. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and set them all aside. Next, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on black cardstock, then cut it out with a Pink & Main large sentiment strip.

For my background, I die cut the largest Trinity Stamps embossed edge rectangle from kraft cardstock. I pulled out a retired MFT Stamps arch stax die set and cut 3 of those from the left side. Next, I stamped the MFT STamps diagonal stripes background stamp on the panel in brown ink. Then I used a blending brush to ink up the edges for a little dimension. While I had the blending brushes out, I added some of the brown ink to the bottom of the arch cutouts and then went back with an olive green ink on the tops.

I added foam tape to the back of the striped panel and adhered it to a white card base. Then I used liquid glue to add the arches back in to their windows. Next, I added foam squares to the back of the dinos and popped them in place. I added foam strips to the back of the sentiment and bird and added them last.

For finishing touches, I just added some fun white gel pen highlights to all the images. I just love the earthy tones of this card! It’s super fun and would be great for a girl or a guy!

My Favorite Things – Sketch Challenege

Hey friends! I’m stopping by this weekend with a couple of really fun cards I created using the MFT Stamps Wednesday Sketch Challenge sketch. Here’s a look at the sketch.

For some reason this one really inspired me and I immediately pulled my stamps out and started coloring. Today we have another Super Friend card because I’m so in love with those critters!

I started my card by stamping and coloring the images from Super Friend. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Using the colors of their outfits, I found a few distress oxide colors to blend for my background. Today I tried cracked pistachio, dusty concord and chipped sapphire. Then I spritzed the panel with water and also flicked some pearl and gold watercolor on it.

I used my Trinity Stamps embossed edge circle stack to die cut 3 white circles and glued the foliage images on the back side of them. Then I glued those to my inked panel. I added foam squares to my critters and popped them in place next.

I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the set on black cardstock and used a Pink & Main Sunny Greetings sentiment strip die to cut it out. I added it with foam strips and moved on to finishing touches.

For those I started with glossy accents on the critter noses, chest emblem and glasses. Then I used my Wink of Stella glitter brush pen on the stars and decided this card was finished.

It’s SUPER adorable and will be fabulous to send to a great friend for a pick me up!

Pink & Main – Dearest Friend

Hey friends! The May Pink & Main release is live and it’s gorgeous!!! If you haven’t taken a look, be sure to check it out! Today I’m sharing a card with the new Dearest Friend stamp set. This is an awesome 6×6 set that has a GIANT beautiful butterfly in it plus some great sentiments!

I decided to stamp and heat emboss my butterfly on watercolor paper with gold embossing powder. Then I used my Zig markers and a water brush pen to color the image in. I trimmed the panel with a rectangle stackable, next to the biggest one.

Then I used the largest die to cut a black panel that I adhered to a white card base. I popped the watercolor panel up with foam tape and chose a sentiment. I stamped and heat embossed this in the same gold but on black cardstock to tie in the border. I die cut it with a large sentiment strip die and popped it up with foam strips.

Last, I added a scattering of the new beautiful crystal gems and, voila! This beautiful card is finished!

Miss Ink Stamps – Soak Your Troubles Away

Hi there everyone! I’m so glad you’re joining me today. I’m sharing another adorable pup from the Miss Ink Stamps Rub-a-dub Doggies stamp set, along with a couple of new stencils too!

I started today’s card by inking up the Hand Drawn Hearts stencil with a couple of different green inks, then I added a little depth to some areas with a teal shadow here and there. I like how it turned out. Next, I trimmed the panel down to 4×5.25 inches and taped it to the Inks & Outs Paw Print stencil. I smeared Thermoweb transfer gel blanco through it, removed the stencil and set the panel aside to dry.

In the mean time, I turned on my laminator and stamped and colored one of the smaller images from Rub-a-dub Doggies with my copics. I fussy cut him out, added foam squares to the back and set him aside.

Once the stars were aligned – aka, my gel was dry and the laminator was heated up – I ran the stenciled panel through with some green envy deco foil flock. Next, I put the panel in my MISTI and stamped a sentiment in Lawn Fawn mermaid ink. I found cardstock the same color, trimmed it to A2 size and adhered it to a white card base. I added foam tape to the back of the stenciled panel and popped it in place. Finally, I added my pup!

For finishing touches, I just had to add some star dust Stickles to random bubbles, glossy accents to his nose and black glaze pen to his eyes.

These images just get me every time! I love them! I love how you can mix and match different stencils together too! That brings loads of options into view!

Trinity Stamps – Over the TOP

Hey friends! It’s Wednesday and I’m super excited to share this adorable Trinity Stamps circus themed birthday card with you as we sail toward the weekend! This week Trinity Stamps designers are highlighting one of our illustrators all week long – blog, Instagram and YouTube – Davina over at Popsicle Sticks! The Le Cirque stamp set I’m using today was illustrated by her!

To start my card, I knew that I wanted to try out the new build a big top die set so I cut everything from white cardstock and colored various pieces with my copic markers. Then I used liquid to to adhere it all together. It was really simple and fun to do! I’ll link to a great blog post HERE if you have questions about assembly…and a video HERE if that’s more your learning style.

Next, I chose images from Le Cirque, stamped and colored them with my copics as well. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and set them aside. Next, I took an oversized panel and inked up the Good Morning Sunshine stencil in two-tone yellow inks. Then I used the largest embossed edge rectangle die to cut it out. I used liquid glue to adhered it to a white card base. Next, I decided that I wanted grass for my scene instead of just the great rays from the stencil, so I cut another small panel with the embossed edge rectangle and then trimmed the top with a grass die from the great outdoors slimline die set. I inked it up with a couple of greens for some dimension and glued it in place.

Next, I adhered the fabulous circus tent, added foam squares to the back of my images and popped them in place. I put the whole card in my MISTI and stamped a sentiment from Balancing Acts in the top left corner and moved on to finishing touches.

For those, I added a combo of glossy accents and star dust Stickles to various elements. Then I went in with black glaze pen on all the eyes that are open.

Today I’m showcasing the amazing Winston character in Papa Bear. I love this sweet bear so much! I just think he’s adorable and so fun!

For my card today, I used the plaid stencil on a white panel with teal and guava inks and then did another layer of stripes with Thermoweb brilliant blue glitz gel. Then I took another panel and used Thermoweb copper metallix gel through the cascading stars stencil. While those were drying, I stamped a few of the images from Papa Bear and colored them with my copics. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and liquid glue to adhere the bow and tie to the bears.

I’m an only child and so is my daughter, so I really love this image having the papa bear holding his little girl. It brings back lots of memories.

Next, I die cut a frame from Framework out of a guava colored cardstock that matches the ink I used on the plaid panel. Then I cut the fancy edges tag from vellum and heat embossed a senitment on it. I also cut the hole reinforcer from blue, glued it on and threaded some teal ribbon through the hole.

Once my panels were dry, I die cut the plaid with he largest Framework die and the stars with the third largest square in Frames Squared. Then it was time to adhere all these awesome layers together.

I cut a blue panel for my card front that matches the hole reinforcer on the tag and also matches the glitz gel in the plaid. I glued this to a white card base and popped the plaid panel up with foam tape. Next, I adhered the guava frame to the stars panel and popped them up with foam on the plaid panel. I added foam squares to my images and adhered them to the tag. This was I can hide the glue behind the images to adhere the tag to the star panel.

Moving on to finishing touches, I added black glaze pen to the bear’s eyes and glossy accents their noses, bow and tie. Once the glaze pen was dry, I went back in with a white gel pen and added the highlights back in.

Avery Elle – Special Delivery

Hey friends! I have a really adorable card today featuring some Avery Elle goodies. I’ve been so excited for their recent release that it inspired me to pull out things I already have and play with them.

To create today’s card, I stamped images from Sending Hugs and colored them with my copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I did want to slip the elephant inside he envelope so I stamped it a second time and used the special die in the set to cut it out. Then I used liquid glue to adhere it all together, including the flower in the elephant’s hand. I put this in my MISTI and stamped the sentiment on the bottom in Lawn Fawn guava ink.

Next, I inked up a white panel with stormy sky and tumbled glass distress oxide inks. I kept the stormy sky to the center so it was a little shadow coming out from behind the envelope. Once that was blended, I splattered it with watered down ink of both colors and let it dry. Then I ran it through my die cut machine with the quilted backdrop die. I added foam tape to the back, keeping the center cut out in place and adhered it to a white card base. Then I added foam tape to the back of my image and popped it on too.

For finishing touches, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in wedgwood blue to all the points where the quilted stitching meets. Then I added glossy accents to the “berry” looking flowers and heart in the speech bubble. I brushed a little Wink of Stella glitter on the flower in the elephant’s hand and also added black glaze pen to the elephant’s eyes.

I just think this card turned out so sweet! I can’t wait to play with this set some more and add the other critters to the mix too!

Newton’s Nook – I Just PLANE Like You Easel Card

Hey friends! I’m up on the Newton’s Nook blog today sharing this really fun circle shaped easel card! I’ve never made one before and was inspired by my friend Leica who makes adorable ones of these from time to time. They always get me and I had no clue how easy and fun they were to create!

Here’s a look at the card front, flat like it would come out of the envelope. Isn’t it the cutest!?! I used Winston Takes Flight stamps and dies, along with the Circle Frames dies and the new Petite Clouds stencil.

I started by stamping and coloring the images with my copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and glued the banner to the back of the airplane. I chose 2 lighter blue cardstocks and cut the darker one with the scalloped circle in the circle frames die set. Then I grabbed my Trinity Stamps embossed circle stack dies and cut the lighter one from a size that fit just barely inside the stitching on the scalloped circle. Then I taped it to the petite clouds stencil and spread transfer gel through it. I set it aside to dry while I created my easel pieces. This is also when I turn my laminator on so it’s heated up when I’m ready to use it.

For those, I die cut the scalloped circle 2 more times from white cardstock and then just one edge from a scrap. I took one of the full white circles and scored it at .5 inch from one side and 1.5 inches from the other. Then I folded it into a Z-fold. I glued the .5 inch flap to the other white panel and set it aside to dry. Next, I grabbed the scrap scalloped circle edge I cut and trimmed it straight across with my paper trimmer. Then I placed it in my MISTI and stamped a sentiment from the Floral Roundabout on it. I added foam squares to the back and adhered it to the bottom of the white circle I just glued the Z-fold to. This is the stopper for your easel.

With my transfer gel dry, I ran the cloud panel through my laminator with blue decofoil flock! Soooo much fuzzy fun! I love flocking! Next, I took both blue panels and placed them in my splatter box and splattered watered down white and black acrylic paint on them for a little extra fun texture. Once they were dry, I adhered them together with foam tape. Then I glued this panel to the bottom half of the Z-fold circle attached to my card base.

I added foam squares to the back of Winston and added him to the front of the card. Moving on to finishing touches, I added Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to the star on the plane. Then I added glossy accents over the top of the whole circle plus Winston’s goggles and nose. I also added some Wink of Stella to either end of the banner for a little shimmer in the light.

I just can’t get over how cute this is and how much fun it is going to be to give it to someone! I love that it can be displayed in such a fun way after they receive it more than anything!
