Doodlebugs – Ultimate Mix It Up Monday

Hey friends! I’m over on the Doodlebugs blog for our weekly Mix it up Monday but today is seriously the ultimate mix and match with so many companies together and you’d never know. They just work so great!

Isn’t this just the cutest!!! So easy too! Any order really, you just need that sweet Sunny Studios penguin colored and die cut. The awesome Lawn Fawn candy canes die cut and assembled. I started with red and white but didn’t love it until I added the pink. Be sure to play with this die set! I think I’ll try some mint green next.

Now, use liquid glue to adhere your candy canes crisscross and then add the penguin to the top.

Then stamp and heat emboss your sentiment of choice – the Pretty Pink Posh sentiment strips dies and coordinating stamp sets for the win as usual. I’m tell you, you’ll get your moneys worth from these. There is always something that works!

Now, add foam squares and strips behind your images and sentiment strip.

Now, we’re going to switch to Concord & 9th for an awesome background die. Trim your panel to 3.5×4.75 inches and cut it twice with the Double Stripe Card Front die – once landscape and then again portrait. Then you get this awesome plaid stitching.

I used green cardstock and then ink blended the edges with shabby shutters distress oxide for a little shadow and flicked forest moss ink across the panel for extra interest.

Finally, to assemble it all, I popped the background panel up with foam tape on a white card base and then adhered the images and sentiment strip on that. For finishing touches I added black glaze pen to the penguin’s eyes and glossy accents to his beak.

Can you believe it? We mixed 4 companies together today and they created the cutest holiday card!

Doodlebugs – Hooray! Floral Congrats Card

Hello again. I have a fun mix-it-up Monday card to share with you that started with a very simple idea and definitely evolved into its own. I think it turned out so pretty and I had fun playing with some of my favorite dies while I was at it.

I needed a congratulations card so I went digging in my large sentiment dies to see what struck me with inspiration. I landed on the Lawn Fawn big hooray die, cutting it from white cardstock three times and gluing the layers together before I even formed a solid plan. Then I went digging for a good mini sentiment to go across the center and landed on the Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strips collection, and the coordinating dies.

Next, I wasn’t sure what to add around or in the large letters. My initial go-to was cute critters but nothing was vibing for me. So I pulled out my favorite Spellbinders birdie and while I was digging for that, I came across the Spellbinders Kaleidoscope Arch stamp and die set. The florals in this set are so pretty and very low stress to cut and assemble. Some of the more detailed sets stress me out with all the layers and my lack of floral knowledge.

So, I cut all the pieces for the florals and the sweet birdie, using liquid glue to adhere the pieces together. After playing around for a bit I also used liquid glue to adhere the florals popping out of the hooray letters all over. To keep the background interesting but subtle, I embossed a 4×5.25 inch piece of white cardstock with the Spellbinders columns embossing folder.

I popped the background panel up on a white card base with foam tape and then used liquid glue to adhere the floral hooray to that. Last, I added the birdie with a combo of a foam square and liquid glue, and the sentiment strip with a foam strip.

I liked the shine that the foil cardstock gave the flower centers so my finishing touches for this card were just glossy accent on the birdie’s beak and eye. Isn’t she the cutest?!? I love that you can’t go wrong with any variation of color combos on this bird. It’s always fun.

Doodlebugs – Tri-Fold Scene Card

Hey everyone! Today’s mix-it-up Monday is packed full of amazing! I went a little extra coloring some images from the Mama Elephant Me and My Whale set. After cutting everything out and playing around I had a fun thought to make a window card that opened into the scene but I had too much so I went a step further and created a tri-fold card with an ever unfolding scene and still room to write a message.

Okay, starting things off, you just need 2 regular card bases, flip one backwards and slide them together. You’ll glue the back flaps together and it will give you a tri-fold card base to work with.

My front panel is scored every half inch for a shiplap look on the front. Then ink blended with peeled paint distress oxide ink. I used the Spellbinders Coastal Escape View die set to cut my window and add all of the fun porthole decorations to the front. My sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Essential Tag Sayings. It has a great bubble font that stands out perfectly.

For the scene our card opens up to, I inked a wave panel with salvaged patina and the card flap itself with salty ocean and tumbled glass. The seashells are more great dies from the Spellbinders Coast View set and the other images are from Mama Elephant Me and My Whale. This sentiment comes from Mama Elephant’s Mixed Wishes Greetings.

Our final descent brings us to the center of the card and down in the depths with more Me and My Whale images, paired with a little coral and seaweed from the same Spellbinders die set. I did pull in another sentiment set from Mama Elephant because I couldn’t resist the whale talking to his mermaid friend. This one is called Simple Friends Bubbles and it stamps and die cuts 6 sentiments at once!

The background on this panel is ink blended with mermaid lagoon and tumbled glass distress oxide inks. All of the panels were also spritzed with water and splattered with white paint for texture.

Because of the nature of this card, everything is glued flat and there are no extra embellishments on the inside. I always get nervous that the dimension will ruin the layer above it or pages will stick together. So I kept it all simple except for a little stardust Stickles on the stamen of the front flowers.

It has been years since I’ve created a card this extra. I loved taking my time and enjoying the entire process of this project. I’d love to know if you create cards this involved or like to keep it simple.

Twiddler’s Nook Spooktacular – Happy Haunting Shaker Card

Hey friends! It’s that time again…the 31st of the month equals the Twiddler’s Nook Spooktacular Instagram Hop! Today I’m sharing a fun shaker card mixing some of our embellishments together for a custom shaker look.

For my card today, I stamped some images from the fun Lawn Fawn Booyah stamp set and colored them with copic markers. After cutting them out with the coordinating dies, I used liquid glue to assemble my dressed up ghosts. Then I went digging in my stash for a fun die set to create a shaker window frame with. I landed on the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Torn Rectangle dies. I used the two largest to cut a frame from kraft cardstock. I kept the inside to use as my background as well.

I was thinking spellbook when I pulled the MFT Stamps typewriter background stamp out to stamp on the kraft panels. After stamping, I used gathered twigs distress oxide ink to ink the edges of the frame and center of the panel.

For an added little bit of spooky, I cut the Lawn Fawn Cute Cobweb from white cardstock and colored the spider. Then I used liquid glue to adhere it to the under side of the shaker frame. After that I added acetate to the frame and foam tape in preparation for the shaker bits.

I inked up a piece of dotted purple cardstock with wilted violet and then black soot so it was dark but not totally black. I glued that to a card base, then added the center kraft piece to that. I sprinkled all the shaker bits in the center and sealed it up with the frame.

Finally, I popped the images up with foam squares, along with a heat embossed sentiment that came from the Booyah stamp set. I added a little glossy accents to the witch’s hat and vampire’s treat bag for finishing touches.

Sunny Studios – Turkey Treat Boxes

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you know how thankful I am for each and every one of you! The love and support I’ve seen since starting my blog, and since my business, is incredible and I appreciate every bit of it!

Today I wanted to pop in and share some fun treat boxes I created for our Thanksgiving table this year. They’re really simple but adorable and add a bit of fun to the table.

I stamped the cute turkey holding the sign from Sunny Studio plus some of the little extras in the set and colored them all with my copics. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. I used liquid glue to add the hats and parts the turkey can hold.

Next, I pulled out the Lawn Fawn tiny gift box dies and cut the box shape from some digital paper I purchased on Etsy. It’s printed on cardstock so it’s sturdy enough for the boxes but I also printed the designs on regular paper for a festive paper chain too.

After assembling the boxes, I hand wrote everyone’s name in the sign the turkey is holding and added them to the front of each box with a foam square. Then, the turkey’s that weren’t holding anything had some leaves added around their feet for something extra.

Newton’s Nook – Meowy Christmas

Meowy Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day full of all the people and things you love! I have a fun treat bag to share with you that I made for my daughter.

I realized a few days before Christmas that I had a gift card for her but nothing to put it in. Well, I definitely had to remedy that, so I dug through my mental catalog and thought it would be fun to made this Lawn Fawn tote bag and decorate it.

I started with the Newton’s Nook Canine Christmas paper pad so cut the bag and assembled it with EZ tear tape. Then, to decorate it I chose this sweet kitty from Newton’s Nook Christmas Kittens stamp set. I colored it with copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. I used a little liquid glue to add the holly to his hat and foam squares to attach him to the bag.

Next, I cut banners from the Newton’s Nook Frames & Flags die set from black and white cardstock. I heat embossed a sentiment on one and glued them together, then to the box. Isn’t this so cute!?! For finishing touches, I added Touch of Gloss to the kitten’s nose and holly berries. Then I added black glaze pen to his eyes and set the bag aside to dry.

I didn’t want the “to” to be bold and distract from the kitty so I cut a small circle using the same paper pad and Newton’s Nook Circle Frames dies. Then I cut an “M” from black cardstock using the Newton’s Nook Essential Alphabet dies and glued it on. I used some baker’s twine from my stash to tie it on the back side. We all have different initials in our house so it was easy to leave just the “M” to tell who the gift is for.

I hope you enjoyed my project today! This sweet kitty just makes me smile!

Lawn Fawn – Fortune Teller Tabby

Happy weekend crafty friends! I”m back with another Tag Time Saturday because, you guessed it, we are headed to another dance competition for me daughter.

After last time and finally getting to see the shows for the first time I switched gears to play off one of the girls’ performances for today’s tag.

I started with the Lawn Fawn Fortune Teller Tabby set and stamped the kitty to color with my copic markers. After that, I used the coordinating die to cut her out. I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment, using a sentiment strip die to cut that out too.

For my tag shape, I used the Lawn Fawn Puffy Stars dies. I took a scrap of white cardstock and ink smooshed different yellows all over it. Then I cut three sizes of stars from the panel plus two additional white stars from the largest one. I used liquid glue to adhere all the inked stars together and popped my fortune teller up with foam squares. I used a combo of liquid glue and foam strip to add the sentiment.

On one of the white stars, I stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn Lucky Stars and wrote a message to my daughter. Then, on the second white star I wrote her name and school so they know where to deliver it to. I layered them together and used a Fiskars punch to punch a hole and thread baker’s twine through.

To add a little whimsy to the fortune teller theme, I took the Pink & Main scratch off sticker sheets and die cut a circle to stick over the crystal ball. I used washi tape to stick a Pink & Main scratcher to the inside star so she can reveal the secret message when she gets it!

For finishing touches I just added glossy accents to the kitty’s nose and white gel pen highlights to the image.

Lawn Fawn – Not a Creature Was Stirring…

Hey friends! Today I bring you a minor reprieve from my obsession with all things Halloween to bring you something also completely out of season that makes my heart so happy…a Christmas card! Lol! I hope you enjoy it.

I took a moment to play with these sweet baking mice from the Lawn Fawn A Creature stamp set. I colored them with my copics and used patterned papers from an older Lawn Fawn paper pad – Snow Day Remix.

The scrap of red cardstock I had was already 4.25×4 inches so I just cut it in apart a 1.25 inches on the 4.25 inch side and popped them up on a white card base with foam tape. I also had a scrap of the green background paper that I slid in place with liquid glue and then popped up all my images with foam squares.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiments on black cardstock and used my paper trimmer to cut them into strips before adding them with foam strips too.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the mouse noses, holly berries and candy cane. Then I added stardust Stickles to the gumdrops on the gingerbread house for some sparkle.

Jane’s Doodles – You Warm My Heart

Welcome friends! I have a sweet watercolor card to share with you today featuring Jane’s Doodles stamps and stencil, paired with my new LH Colors watercolors for some sparkle and texture in the background.

I knew I wanted to create a card with these sweet kitties and pups from the Jane’s Doodles Cats and Dogs digital stamp set, so I printed them out and colored them with my copic markers. I used the scan-n-cut to cut the image out and set it aside to play with a watercolor background.

I cut an oversized panel of watercolor paper and slopped some water on it with a big brush. Then I added limeade and pool party from the LH Colors Summer Fun collection randomly on the paper. I heat dried it a couple of times in the middle to get some layers but when I was finished I wanted it to have more texture. So, I pulled out the Hearts stencil and inked it with salvaged patina distress oxide ink. Then I splattered some watered down twisted citron distress oxide on the panel to bring in the limeade watercolor. Once the panel was dry I cut it down with the largest of the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies.

Last, I inked a white panel with twisted citron distress oxide ink for my base panel but didn’t like how bright it was so I toned it down with tea dye distress oxide very lightly. I glued that panel to a card base and popped up the watercolor panel with foam tape. Before adding my critters, I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Love You and cut it out with a Pink & Main Large Sentiment Strip die.

Finally, I added the sentiment strip and critters with foam squares on the lower right corner of the card. To finish things off I just added glossy accents to all of their noses.

Lawn Fawn – Happy Trails Thank You Cards

Hi again! Today I’m popping in with a pair of thank you cards featuring an older Lawn Fawn set called Happy Trails. It’s a 3×4 set that I’ve had for ages and I always have so much fun creating with it. Today I’m making two thank you cards because we just bought our first travel trailer and I wanted to do something for a couple of guys at the dealership that were super amazing with us!

I’m not usually one for making the same card twice so I created completely different cards using the exact same images. And I seriously love them both! I started by stamping the car, trailer and a bunch of trees and colored them all with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out and split them into two piles to start making cards!

This is the first one I made. It’s a large stitched rectangle blended with distress oxide ink in mowed lawn, twisted citron, peacock feathers and salty ocean and spritzed with water. Then I cut the road border pieces from black and yellow cardstock, adhered them together and to the panel. I added the inside of the simple puffy cloud frames and trees with liquid glue. Then popped up the car, trailer and wavy banner with foam squares.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the wheel hubs and headlight on the car. Then I came in with a black glaze pen for the door knob and white gel pen accents on the windows.

After creating this bright daytime scene, I remembered that I hadn’t even cut apart my Forest Backdrop dies yet so that was a must for this next one!

The frame is cut from Knock on Wood patterned paper and everything else from cardstock in my stash. After cutting all of the pieces, I used liquid glue to adhere all the layers together and to the frame where they go. I also cut two different simple stitched hills – one from brown and the other from green for some layered ground elements. I adhered the hills to a blue panel and popped the Forest Backdrop up with foam strips.

Finally, I added the trees to the background with liquid glue, popped up the trailer and car with foam squares and also decided to add the moon and stars from the Forest Backdrop dies to the upper left corner. I finished the scene off with the same wavy banner on the upper right which balanced the design perfectly.

I added the same finishing touches to this card except for adding Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to the moon and stars in the sky.

Isn’t it so fun to create such different cards when you’re starting out with the same images and idea?!? I just love them and hope the guys do too!
