Newton’s Nook – October Release Day 3

Are you having fun yet? I am having a blast sharing all of these goodies with you and hope you’re getting excited for release day on Friday! Let’s keep the caffeine flowing for the holiday’s this year with today’s release reveal.

Christmas Coffees stamps and dies

Did you squeal? I did when I first saw this set. And the moment I pulled it out, there was no was I was picking and choosing so everything got stamped and everything got colored! Then EVERYTHING went on the card too!

For the layout, I used the inserts from the A2 Card Layout 2 die, without the frame. I also pulled in another pattern from the Christmas Basics paper pad for my background. Isn’t it perfect?!?

I inked up the bottom of each panel with some teal ink, fading to nothing and then arranged my mugs and cups with foam squares. The sentiment on that last panel just makes me smile. It’s so good!

After arranging everything on the card front, I went in for some finishing touches. First black glaze pen on the eyes and buttons for shine and pop. Then a combo of stardust Stickles and glossy accents on bits and pieces of each mug. Not too much but a little something for everyone.

I couldn’t resist the Stickles on the whipped cream for each mug because it’s like sugar sprinkles sparkling in the light to me. Do you have a favorite mug? I don’t know if I can pick.

Newton’s Nook – October Release Day 2

Welcome back! I’m SUPER excited to share today’s product reveals and my project using them! It’s all so fun and has really gotten me transitioning to holiday crafting.

Holiday Postage Sample stamps and dies, Postage Stamp Layout die

Isn’t this new set so fun and festive!?! I love these images and had so much fun making all the postage stamps!

I started by stamping, coloring and die cutting all the bits for six postage stamps, then used my paper trimmer to cut them apart. I chose three for this card and saved the others for later in the week.

I paired my stamps with the new Merry Christmas sentiment dies and my favorite Reindeer stencil for the background. I also used the largest Framework die for that background panel to mimic more postage stamp look.

You know how I am about dimension so it’s all popped up with foam tape and squares. Then I finished the stamps off with stardust Stickles on each one for some sparkle.

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 4

We’re on the final day of release reveals and today is almost as packed as Monday was! Let’s take one more dive and tomorrow you can hop on and snag all of these new goodies for yourself!

Leaf Splendor stamps and dies

Autumn Woofs paper pad

Autumn Meows paper pad

Today I have 2 cards to share with you. First up, a sweet little card using the new Autumn Woofs paper pad and a sentiment from Leaf Splendor. They go so well together!

For this card, I found a sketch on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try with the new paper pads. I chose my paper and started cutting. The strip is 1.5×5.25 inches and the rectangles are 1.25×2.25 inches.

Then I cut a piece of kraft cardstock and inked the edges up with gathering twigs distress oxide ink. I splattered it with ground espresso ink and stamped my sentiment in the lower right corner before gluing it to a white card base.

I popped the papers up with foam squares and finished the design off with some jute twine wrapped around the inside fold.

Next, I have a simple card using the Leaf Splendor stamp set which started one direction and took a hard left to something completely different. The end result was very inviting for me to mass produce as a fall card to share with extended family.

I started with a piece of watercolor cardstock and my distress oxide inks. These were wild honey, aged mahogany and peeled paint. I was going to add lots of water to blend the colors together, stamp the leaves and die cut them out but I ended up stamping the leaves first, loving the look and turning this into an A7 size card instead.

So at this point, I cut the large scalloped rectangle in the A7 Frames die set from a muted green cardstock in my stash and trimming the leaf panel just smaller than the stitching edge. I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment, using the coordinating die to cut it out.

I plain card front wasn’t working for me so I ink blended gathered twigs distress oxide on the edges and spritzed it with the sprayer too. After popping all the layers up with foam tape I finished the design off with jute twine again.

If you can’t tell that’s a favorite for my fall themed cards. I love the rustic touch it gives to any design.

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 3

Alright friends, let’s switch gears to some beautiful fall images. We’re sticking with the bookmark theme though so all the bases are covered!

Autumn Reads

I love the mix of tall and small images in this set. It’s going to be great for bookmarks like I have to share today but also pairing with your other bookish and coffee images for fall on regular size card fronts.

I stamped my images from Autumn Reads in brown copic-friendly ink and colored them with my copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

This time I pulled out the Bookmark dies and cut my main one from kraft cardstock. I inked up the edges with distress oxide ink for a little depth and stamped my sentiment in the center.

I glued the images directly to the bookmark and threaded my ribbons through the top.

Newton’s Nook – September Release Day 2

Today we’re continuing with the spooky Halloween theme but we have just one stamp and die set to share. It’s really fun and going to be versatile for both bookmarks, tags and little scenes.

Spooky Stories stamps and dies

I created a couple of bookmarks to share today but am really itching to also create some mini scenes using these fun images really soon!

I used the new Bookmark II dies for both of these bookmarks. Starting soft and pastel with the ghosts and going to a dark night sky for the cool bats!

I stamped the sentiment and images with gray ink so it wasn’t harsh and used the book stack dies from the Bookmark II set. I added the ghosts like they’re coming out of the spooky stories, keeping everything flat since it’s a bookmark.

For this second one, I started with a dark blue background, heat embossing the sentiment at the bottom. Then I stamped and die cut the bat image from Spooky Stories. I colored the moon with some yellow markers and used a blending brush to add dark blue to the rest.

I stamped and colored the witchy Newton from Newton’s Boo-tiful Night, cutting it out with the coordinating die. I didn’t like the white edge so I colored it with a dark blue marker so it blended in better.

Not thinking about my bookmark rule, I did pop all of these images up with foam squares. Oops, you know how much I like my dimension. Haha!

Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge – Shaker Card

Hey friends! I’m happy to announce that Twiddler’s Nook is the monthly sponsor for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge. The theme is coffee, Christmas and this month – cute critters! This was so fun to to mull over and create for! Ultimately, I landed on m favorite Newton’s Nook goodies, turned into a shaker card featuring a couple of Twiddler’s Nook embellishments as the shaker bits!

I’ve been heavy on pink lately so forgive me now but Christmas and Halloween are going to be a bit non-traditional this year. Hence, I started with a pink panel for my background stenciling and I love it!!! I cut that out with the Newton’s Nook Basic Frames rectangle and created a shaker pouch with some leftover packaging. I filled that with Candy Cane clay embellishments and Rosetta Pixie Dust Micro Beads.

For my images, I combined Newton’s Mug with sentiments and holly from Newton’s Gift. Don’t they go so perfectly? I love how it turned out! I also love combining my sentiment inside these large images. It’s so genius!

To pull it all together I cut the largest Frames & Flags die from the red polka dot paper in the Bright Basics paper pad and popped it up on a white card base. Then I glued the shaker panel to that with EZ Tear adhesive tape. Last, I popped my image up on that with foam squares.

For finishing touches I just added a bit of glossy accents to Newton’s nose and the berries on the holly. Just a little something extra.

Products used:
Twiddler’s Nook Candy Cane clay embellishments
Twiddler’s Nook Pixie Dust Micro Beads – Rosetta
Twiddler’s Nook Blending Brushes
Twiddler’s Nook Double Wide Platform Base
Twiddler’s Nook Blend Brush Caps
Twiddler’s Nook Pressure Pal

Newton’s Mug stamps and dies

Newton’s Nook – 11th Birthday Release Day 3

It’s been a quick few days. This brings us to the final reveal for the Newton’s Nook 11th Birthday Release and it’s too cute for words! I hope you love it!

Newton Loves Pizza stamps and dies

From the moment I saw this I couldn’t wait to ink it up and color him. Pizza is a favorite in our house so I know I’ll get lots of use from this stamp over the years to come.

After coloring and cutting out the images. I cut a red circle using the Circle Frames die set and inked the edges with black soot distress ink to darken them up. Then I pulled that Black & White Basics paper pad back out for this awesome grid pattern.

I cut that out using the largest Frames & Tags die, while also cutting one of the tags in that set from a teal cardstock. I stamped my sentiment on the tag and popped the heart up with a foam square.

For assembly, I added foam tape to the back of the grid panel, leaving a gap to wrap the floss around the top. After doing that, I tied my tag in place but didn’t adhere it down until I added Newton and the circle with foam tape first. Then I popped the whole panel up on a piece of black cardstock that I later added to a white card base.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to Newton’s nose and toe beans, the pepperoni on the pizza and the heart.

Newton’s Nook – 11th Birthday Release Day 2

Welcome back everyone! Today we have another product to reveal to go with yesterday’s awesomeness! I love these background frame dies and am so happy to add another one to the Newton’s Nook repertoire.

A2 Card Layout 2 die

Before we dive into the card I created for today. I also did a thing that I thought might help some people visualize other fun ways to use these types of dies.

I chose 4 pieces of paper from the Natural Basics paper pad we revealed yesterday and cut the A2 Card Layout 2 die from each one. Then I cut a white frame for each set. I proceeded to create 4 card bases in different combinations with just the frames and inserts.

None of these are shakers but also remember that if you pop your frame up, any or all of the windows could become shaker wells too if you add an acetate layer to the back before your foam tape.

Today I used the simplest background where I just glued all of the pieces from the A2 Card Layout 2 die directly to a card base. No popping up of the background at all.

Then I chose the images from Newton’s Crate to stamp and color with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut it all out and a little liquid glue to adhere my leaves in place.

A little tip I found helpful over the years: If you’re stamping a sentiment where you’ll be coloring and the stamps are separate, color first and stamp the sentiment when you’re done. No change for bleeding while you’re coloring.

Finishing touches today include a little gloss accents on Newton’s nose and white gel pen highlights through all the images. Then I tied jute twine around the top of the card and frayed the edges for extra distressed interest.

Newton’s Nook – June Release Day 4

For the final day of Newton’s Nook June Release reveals, we’re rounding out the farm feeling with Newton heading back to the country too.

Farmer Newton Stamps and Dies

Is he not the cutest in his little overalls and pitchfork?!? I’m smitten with him and those fun sentiments!

For this card, I stamped and colored everything with copic markers. After cutting it all out with the coordinating dies, I used a craft knife to cut a slit by Newton’s paw so he would properly hold the ear of corn. I couldn’t resist myself.

I inked up a circle from the Circle Frames die set and also a scrap I cut the top off of with the grass die in the Land Borders die set. After stamping my sentiment I glued the grass line in place and popped the images up with foam squares.

For the background I inked up a piece of kraft cardstock with the Tree Rings stencil using distress oxide inks. Then I tore the edge off and popped it up with foam tape on a white card base.

Finally I added the mini scene to that with foam tape, trimming off the excess hanging off the edge. Then I added white gel pen highlights to the images and tied some fun twine around the top of the card for a little extra.

Newton’s Nook – June Release Day 3

Today we switch gears from the buzz of the beehive to the sounds of the farm! These new dies and paper pad are SO FUN and will go great with previously released products too!

Tractor and Barn Die Sets

Farmyard Paper Pad

Today I have two separate cards for you featuring all of today’s reveals. First off let’s play with the new Tractor die set.

I pulled out some traditional John Deere colors for my first tractor because who can resist?!? Isn’t is the cutest!?! It cut out and glued together in a jiff and will be so fun to try in lots of colorways.

I inked up a background panel with the Sunscape stencil and splattered it with water for some texture. Then I trimmed the edge off and popped it up on a white card base. I didn’t love the white edge after all so I cut the same paper from the wheel wells of the tractor and added it instead. Now, I love that!

I cut the smallest Framework die from black cardstock and heat embossed a sentiment from Farming Fun. Next, I popped the tractor and sentiment up with foam squares and added glossy accents to the tractor headlight and wheel centers.

For the Barn dies, I couldn’t resist adding some of the Farmyard paper pad to the mix. That cow print just makes me smile!

After cutting the barn out and gluing it together with liquid glue, I thought it would be a great background to add one of the new Hexagon Frames behind it. I inked that up with the Hills & Grass and Cloudy Sky stencil before popping the barn up with foam tape.

Next, I cut the cow print paper with the largest Framework die and then cut a banner from the Banner Trio set. The sentiment here is a sneak coming to you tomorrow in the final day of reveals. (Stay tuned!)

Before putting everything together, I took a red ink pad direct to my card base for color and texture. Then I popped everything up with foam tape for lots of great dimension. The finishing touches today are just a scattering of enamel dots for more pops of color.
