Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge – Shaker Card

Hey friends! I’m happy to announce that Twiddler’s Nook is the monthly sponsor for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge. The theme is coffee, Christmas and this month – cute critters! This was so fun to to mull over and create for! Ultimately, I landed on m favorite Newton’s Nook goodies, turned into a shaker card featuring a couple of Twiddler’s Nook embellishments as the shaker bits!

I’ve been heavy on pink lately so forgive me now but Christmas and Halloween are going to be a bit non-traditional this year. Hence, I started with a pink panel for my background stenciling and I love it!!! I cut that out with the Newton’s Nook Basic Frames rectangle and created a shaker pouch with some leftover packaging. I filled that with Candy Cane clay embellishments and Rosetta Pixie Dust Micro Beads.

For my images, I combined Newton’s Mug with sentiments and holly from Newton’s Gift. Don’t they go so perfectly? I love how it turned out! I also love combining my sentiment inside these large images. It’s so genius!

To pull it all together I cut the largest Frames & Flags die from the red polka dot paper in the Bright Basics paper pad and popped it up on a white card base. Then I glued the shaker panel to that with EZ Tear adhesive tape. Last, I popped my image up on that with foam squares.

For finishing touches I just added a bit of glossy accents to Newton’s nose and the berries on the holly. Just a little something extra.

Newton’s Nook – 11th Birthday Release Day 3

It’s been a quick few days. This brings us to the final reveal for the Newton’s Nook 11th Birthday Release and it’s too cute for words! I hope you love it!

Newton Loves Pizza stamps and dies

From the moment I saw this I couldn’t wait to ink it up and color him. Pizza is a favorite in our house so I know I’ll get lots of use from this stamp over the years to come.

After coloring and cutting out the images. I cut a red circle using the Circle Frames die set and inked the edges with black soot distress ink to darken them up. Then I pulled that Black & White Basics paper pad back out for this awesome grid pattern.

I cut that out using the largest Frames & Tags die, while also cutting one of the tags in that set from a teal cardstock. I stamped my sentiment on the tag and popped the heart up with a foam square.

For assembly, I added foam tape to the back of the grid panel, leaving a gap to wrap the floss around the top. After doing that, I tied my tag in place but didn’t adhere it down until I added Newton and the circle with foam tape first. Then I popped the whole panel up on a piece of black cardstock that I later added to a white card base.

For finishing touches I added glossy accents to Newton’s nose and toe beans, the pepperoni on the pizza and the heart.

Newton’s Nook – 11th Birthday Release Day 2

Welcome back everyone! Today we have another product to reveal to go with yesterday’s awesomeness! I love these background frame dies and am so happy to add another one to the Newton’s Nook repertoire.

A2 Card Layout 2 die

Before we dive into the card I created for today. I also did a thing that I thought might help some people visualize other fun ways to use these types of dies.

I chose 4 pieces of paper from the Natural Basics paper pad we revealed yesterday and cut the A2 Card Layout 2 die from each one. Then I cut a white frame for each set. I proceeded to create 4 card bases in different combinations with just the frames and inserts.

None of these are shakers but also remember that if you pop your frame up, any or all of the windows could become shaker wells too if you add an acetate layer to the back before your foam tape.

Today I used the simplest background where I just glued all of the pieces from the A2 Card Layout 2 die directly to a card base. No popping up of the background at all.

Then I chose the images from Newton’s Crate to stamp and color with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut it all out and a little liquid glue to adhere my leaves in place.

A little tip I found helpful over the years: If you’re stamping a sentiment where you’ll be coloring and the stamps are separate, color first and stamp the sentiment when you’re done. No change for bleeding while you’re coloring.

Finishing touches today include a little gloss accents on Newton’s nose and white gel pen highlights through all the images. Then I tied jute twine around the top of the card and frayed the edges for extra distressed interest.

Newton’s Nook – June Release Day 4

For the final day of Newton’s Nook June Release reveals, we’re rounding out the farm feeling with Newton heading back to the country too.

Farmer Newton Stamps and Dies

Is he not the cutest in his little overalls and pitchfork?!? I’m smitten with him and those fun sentiments!

For this card, I stamped and colored everything with copic markers. After cutting it all out with the coordinating dies, I used a craft knife to cut a slit by Newton’s paw so he would properly hold the ear of corn. I couldn’t resist myself.

I inked up a circle from the Circle Frames die set and also a scrap I cut the top off of with the grass die in the Land Borders die set. After stamping my sentiment I glued the grass line in place and popped the images up with foam squares.

For the background I inked up a piece of kraft cardstock with the Tree Rings stencil using distress oxide inks. Then I tore the edge off and popped it up with foam tape on a white card base.

Finally I added the mini scene to that with foam tape, trimming off the excess hanging off the edge. Then I added white gel pen highlights to the images and tied some fun twine around the top of the card for a little extra.

Newton’s Nook – June Release Day 3

Today we switch gears from the buzz of the beehive to the sounds of the farm! These new dies and paper pad are SO FUN and will go great with previously released products too!

Tractor and Barn Die Sets

Farmyard Paper Pad

Today I have two separate cards for you featuring all of today’s reveals. First off let’s play with the new Tractor die set.

I pulled out some traditional John Deere colors for my first tractor because who can resist?!? Isn’t is the cutest!?! It cut out and glued together in a jiff and will be so fun to try in lots of colorways.

I inked up a background panel with the Sunscape stencil and splattered it with water for some texture. Then I trimmed the edge off and popped it up on a white card base. I didn’t love the white edge after all so I cut the same paper from the wheel wells of the tractor and added it instead. Now, I love that!

I cut the smallest Framework die from black cardstock and heat embossed a sentiment from Farming Fun. Next, I popped the tractor and sentiment up with foam squares and added glossy accents to the tractor headlight and wheel centers.

For the Barn dies, I couldn’t resist adding some of the Farmyard paper pad to the mix. That cow print just makes me smile!

After cutting the barn out and gluing it together with liquid glue, I thought it would be a great background to add one of the new Hexagon Frames behind it. I inked that up with the Hills & Grass and Cloudy Sky stencil before popping the barn up with foam tape.

Next, I cut the cow print paper with the largest Framework die and then cut a banner from the Banner Trio set. The sentiment here is a sneak coming to you tomorrow in the final day of reveals. (Stay tuned!)

Before putting everything together, I took a red ink pad direct to my card base for color and texture. Then I popped everything up with foam tape for lots of great dimension. The finishing touches today are just a scattering of enamel dots for more pops of color.

Newton’s Nook – June Release Day 2

Back for more buzzy fun? I’m so glad! Today we have sweet Newton joining in on the bee brigade and he’s so cute!

Beekeeper Newton Stamps and Dies

Today my card features this adorable new set with yesterday’s Honeycomb hot foil plates too!

I started by ink blending distress oxide inks on a white panel and doing the usual splatters. After letting it dry over night, I hot foiled the new honeycomb plate on it twice. Then I die cut the panel with the largest Frames & Tags die.

Next, I stamped and colored images from Beekeeper Newton and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I cut another banner from the Banner Trio set and heat embossed a sentiment from yesterday’s Heartfelt Honeycomb set with yellow embossing powder this time.

I took a bright blue ink pad direct to paper on a piece of cardstock measuring 4×5.25 inches and glued it to a white card base. Then I popped up the foiled panel with foam tape and followed that by adding all the images and sentiment strip with foam squares as well.

For finishing touches I added stardust Stickles to the bee wings and glossy accents to Newton’s nose, the honey on the pot and parts of the bee box.

Newton’s Nook – April Release Day 4

It’s already the final day of release reveals for the Newton’s Nook April Release! Today I’m extra excited to go back to our critter loving roots and have a new Newton and Puppy set to share with you.

Newton’s Bubble Tea stamps and dies

Puppy’s Bubble Tea stamps and dies

Are these images not just adorable? They are great for cards but are also going to be fun for tags and things too! We love boba tea in our house! Do you?

First up, a shaker card with Newton’s Bubble tea. I colored the images soft and sweet and kept the card colors in line with that. Using the new Frames & Tags dies to create a grid with one window as a shaker was fun and different for me. The shaker bits are from the Newton’s Nook birthday last year – Celebration Embellishment Mix.

I went direct-to-paper with my ink pad again on the card base. I love that texture and variation that you get from such a quick technique. For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the boba and Newton’s nose and toe beans.

Moving on to Puppy’s Bubble Tea, I added paint to some texture paste to emulate the tapioca boba in his bubble tea. Then I used bits a pieces from the new die sets to pull everything together.

My rectangles were cut from pink cardstock to pull in the fun pink straw using the Frames & Tags dies. Then the flag banner comes from the new Basic Frames dies and is the perfect focal point to bring everything together.

For finishing touches I added some black bubbles and glossy accents. I also went over the puppy’s eyes with black glaze pen and a white gel highlight after that was dry.

Newton’s Nook – April Release Day 3

Keeping on with the gorgeous floral idea, we have another stamp and die set along those lines to share with you today. This was equally as amazing to color and I hope to use it lots in the future!

Cherry Blossoms stamps and dies

With too many ideas flowing through my brain when I laid eyes on this set, I had to sketch them all out and choose one to start with. This idea won out and I’m very happy with the result.

I inked up a background panel with the Trailing Leaves stencil. Then I cut the new A2 Card Layout die from kraft cardstock. I kept the inside pieces for another day but glued the frame to my stenciled panel.

Next, I stamped and colored the Cherry Blossoms image twice and used the coordinating die to cut them out. They are popped up on the card front with foam squares.

Last, I placed the card in my MISTI and stamped my sentiment in the center space. For finishing touches I added stardust Stickles to the center of each flower. I love the sparkle it gives!

Newton’s Nook – April Release Day 2

Let’s keep the goodness rolling with more new things from the April Newton’s Nook release!

Floral Delights stamps and dies

I’m not typically a floral person but there is something about these images that I flipped for! I love them and could sit and color them in a million color ways for days on end. Hence, I have two fun projects to share with you today, instead of one.

They were both very simple to put together and fun in their own ways. Let’s start with the card first.

I stamped the images and sentiment on a piece of Bristol smooth paper and watercolored them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. Once the coloring was done I lightly ink blended blue around the images. Then I splattered watered down ink on the panel and let it dry.

When that was dry, I cut the panel with the largest Basic Frames die and added it to the largest Frames & Tags die with foam tape. To add color to my card base, I took my yellow ink pad direct-to-paper so it left vibrant color and some great texture too. Then I added the images to the card base with foam tape as well.

I couldn’t decide if this would end up being a gift tag or bookmark so I cut two panels, white and yellow, but didn’t glue them together. I inked the yellow with the Sunscape stencil and stamped my sentiment on the upper right. I splattered the panel with some yellow ink for added texture. Then I added the images that were also watercolored with foam squares.

Last, I threaded ribbon through both layers of tags and tied it together with baker’s twine from my stash.

Newton’s Nook – Back to Basics Release Day 3

Moving along with the new products from the Newton’s Nook March release, I have a card to share using the new A2 Card Layout die. This is going to be a super fun staple in your crafting back pocket for sure!

Today I cut the A2 Card Layout three times – white cardstock and two patterns from the Pastel Basics paper pad. I kept the pieces from each that I didn’t use so I have them for later on. I love that about dies like these. Those pieces always come in handy.

I stamped and colored the tulips and butterfly with copic markers before using the coordinating dies to cut them out. Then I cut a banner from the A7 Frames die set to stamp and heat emboss my sentiment on.

I used liquid glue to adhere the frame and four inserts to my white card base. Then I popped everything up with foam squares on that. For finishing touches I added stardust Stickles to the butterfly wings and white gel pen accents to the florals.
