Newton’s Nook – Love Quarry

Hi everyone! Today I’m back on the Newton’s Nook blog with a Valentine themed card featuring one of my all-time favorite sets – Love Quarry! It’s punny and so cute! Also fun to color and create with in a variety of ways!

Today I stayed with a more traditional color palette throwing in a splash of my favorite teal to break things up. I stamped and colored images from the set and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next I ink blended the Bokeh Hearts stencil set on a piece of teal cardstock before die cutting it with the rounded rectangle found in the Frames & Flags die set. While the set was out, I also die cut a white panel using the largest die in the set.

Back to the teal panel, after die cutting it I spread texture paste through the Petite Hearts stencil for dimensional texture as well.

After the texture paste dried, I stamped my sentiment on the upper right corner and started arranging my images. This is what I thought having a “ground” for my cement mixer would be awesome and I pulled out the Valentine Word Trio dies! Finding coordinating cardstock colors, I cut and paper pieced the XOXO panel together. Then I adhered it all to the teal panel with foam squares.

There’s never a shortage of dimension on my cards. So now that the teal panel is perfect, I popped it up on the white pane with foam tape and then added that to a red card base. For finishing touches I added glossy accents to parts of the truck and cones. It makes such a difference!
