Doodlebugs – Spooky Scene with Mama Elephant and Pretty Pink Posh

Hey friends! I’m on the Doodlebugs blog today creating a fun spooky scene with Mama Elephant and Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies. I had so much fun coloring and inking and I just love how this turned out. It’s so fun! Also, fall crafting is my favorite so that might have something to do with it too.

I started this card by deciding my layout on the Mama Elephant Stardust Trail cover plate and then stamped out all the images. I colored them with copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. The images are from a combo of Mama Elephant Hey Pumpkin and Pretty Pink Posh Halloween Signs.

Then I die cut the Stardust Trail cover plate from white cardstock and used blending brushes with Lawn Fawn dye inks to add my color. Then I used gold watercolor and painted a piece of white cardstock that would show behind the star cutouts. I used liquid glue to adhere them together and then to a card base.

Then I added foam squares to pop all my images up with foam squares. For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the kitty’s nose and black glaze pen to his eyes. I needed more sparkle so I also added stardust Stickles to the bubbling cauldron.

I think these spooky characters are just the cutest and can’t wait for Halloween to come. We’re already decorating at our house because we love it so much! That way we get two months of spooky before things switch to just fall and turkeys. Do you decorate for Halloween?

Doodlebugs – Christmas Mix and Match Fun

Hi there! Have you gotten any early start on holiday crafting this year? I feel like it really became a thing with companies doing Christmas in July releases which helped my motivation. I also noticed that Christmas crafting now compared to later on, my color choices are brighter and different which is sort of cool and fun!

I recently picked up some new goodies from Doodlebugs with the intent of mixing them together for some holiday cards. This was the first result from that. I started by playing with the Spellbinders Christmas Bird Poinsettia die cutting pieces and arranging them different ways. I used liquid glue to adhere everything except I added the poinsettia with foam squares for some dimension.

Then I inked up a panel with the Pretty Pink Posh Argyle stencil set using mermaid and jalapeno Lawn Fawn inks. After stenciling, I glued the panel to a top folding card base and then glued my foliage down on that.

Next, I heat embossed and die cut a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Everything Nice sentiment set. I love these bold sentiments and have all of the collections. They come in handy and are a fabulous font! I added the sentiment with foam squares and liquid glue.

Since my foliage has some pretty gold shiny pieces, I didn’t add any finishing touches. They were kind of built in when I added that shiny-ness everywhere as I went along.

Doodlebugs – Just Wanted to Say…

Happy Monday everyone! I’m on the Doodlebugs blog today sharing a fun combo with Spellbinders and Pretty Pink Posh, throwing in one of my favorite Mama Elephant sentiment sets too!

Sometimes it’s crazy making and sometimes it’s fun when you have an idea and the creation of said idea does not turn out how it was going in your head. That’s exactly what happened here but I still love it and really had fun creating this card!

Let’s start by die cutting a bunch of the Spellbinders Modern Ovals – I chose the fourth one in from the smallest. I taped three of them to my work surface and ink blended the Pretty Pink Posh Trellis stencil using Lawn Fawn guava ink and a blending brush.

I arranged them on my card front, originally planning to pop them all up, along with die cutting my sentiment. But as I started to play, I liked the idea of the sentiment on one of the ovals – it fits perfectly – and only popping that one up for a little added interest to that specific spot. So I glued everything down and popped that one up. Then I trimmed off the excess with my scissors.

Next, I stamped and colored images from Pretty Pink Posh Crafty Critters with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and added them above the sentiment with foam squares.

Last, I decided to stamp the mini sentiment intro to the blank oval on the top for fun. I was quite smitten with myself when I thought of that. It’s so fun! And finally, for finishing touches I just added black glaze pen to the mouse’s eyes and glossy accents to his nose and parts of the crafty supplies.

Doodlebugs – I’ve Got You Covered

Hi there! So happy you stopped by today. I’m on the Doodlebugs blog sharing this super fun encouragement card featuring a combo of Mama Elephant and Spellbinders stamps and dies. I know it’s summer and we’re all roasting to death with the heat everywhere but I couldn’t resist a little rainy day fun.

I started by die cutting the elements for my umbrella which comes from the Spellbinders Umbrella Bloom die set. After using liquid glue to assemble it all, I pulled out the Mama Elephant Rainy Days stamp set to choose a critter to hold my giant umbrella. This little bunny was just the perfect fit!

I stamped and colored him with copic markers, then used the coordinating die to cut him out. I used liquid glue to adhere the umbrella handle to his hand and lined the back of both with foam squares. Then I cut the Mama Elephant Raindrops cover from white cardstock and ink blended a little teal ink over the center portion.

I went back and forth on the color to put behind the raindrops but landed on a textured teal cardstock from my stash. I used liquid glue to adhere the layers, plus add it to a white card base as well. Then I chose my sentiments from the Spellbinders I’ve Got You Covered stamp and die set. I pulled out the Lawn Fawn sentiment banner die for the smaller sentiment. Then I added foam squares to the back of these too.

After adhering all the elements to my card front, I came in with glossy accents on the bunny’s nose and coat buttons. Then I added stardust Stickles to the raindrops that are bouncing off the umbrella.

Wouldn’t this totally lift your spirits if you got it in the mail? I think it would!

Doodlebugs – Happy Birthday with Hot Foil and Stenciled Background

Welcome to another Monday where I’m over on the Doodlebugs blog sharing how to mix and match your companies! Today I have Mama Elephant stamps and dies with Spellbinders hot foil plates and coordinating stencil set! This card was super fun to create!

I started by hot foiling the Spellbinders Geometric Diamond plate with silver foil on white cardstock. Then I went to town with Lawn Fawn dye inks and blending brushes, using the coordinating stencil set to ink up the whole panel. I chose warm, summery colors today. Aren’t they pretty?!? Then I trimmed the panel down to 4×5.25 inches.

Next, I die cut the Mama Elephant Big Happy Birthday from white cardstock 3 times and used liquid glue to adhere the layers. Then, I chose 3 different kitties from the Mama Elephant Little Agenda Cat and colored them with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

To put it all together, I added the foiled panel with foam tape to a white card base. Then liquid glue to adhere the sentiment die cuts and finally foam squares for those cute kitties!

For finishing touches I simply added stardust Stickles to the pink parts of each kitty – the balloon, shirt and party hat.

Doodlebugs – Mini Note Card Two Ways, Blingy or Simple

Welcome back everyone! I’m so glad you stopped by today. I’m on the Doodlebugs blog with a pair of mini note cards in two variations. Both are super cute but maybe one is more comfortable or to your bling level liking. Enjoy!

First up, I went all things extra and hot foiled my sentiment, plus glitz gelled my stencil! Shiny and glittery and fabulous! This Pretty Pink Posh mini note die set is super fun and I’m going to be making a ton of these over time. They’re fun for purses, lunch boxes and RAKs at the store too!

I used the adorable Spellbinders Sweet Birdie die to adorn my card front and I love it! I used fun colored cardstock from my stash and liquid glue to assemble him. Then, after hot foiling my Pretty Pink Posh Smile sentiment, I die cut it, gluing and additional two layers to the back so it had a little dimension. The bird is popped up with a foam square so it stands out too.

After creating that first card, I thought about people who don’t hot foil or like to get messy like I do and wanted to create and equally adorable, but simpler version of the same card. So here we are! I used a blending brush and darker teal ink for my stenciling this time.

Plus I used the regular die and shadow for my sentiment instead of the hot foil plate and shadow die. I did add two extra layers to the shadow on this sentiment just like the first one and popped my birdie up with a foam square again too.

A little side-by-side action for you to see the differences at the same time. The impact is definitely more in person, with the light hitting the glitz gel and foiling but I really love both cards!

What’s your vote?

Doodlebugs – Fun Shaped Camping Scene Card with Extras Inside

Hello there! I’m happy to be on the Doodlebugs blog today sharing a sweet camping scene card on a fun shaped card. Plus, I’m horrible at this usually, but I extended my sentiment and, sort of, my scene to the inside too. I think it turned out really fun and am excited to hear what you think.

This card is extra fun with its different shape and that’s easy to do with any large shape dies you may have.

I cut the largest Essential Modern Oval from Spellbinders from white and yellow cardstocks. I placed the white one in my scoring board and scored it about 1/4″ away from the top edge. Then I added tear tape to that flap. This will be the back part of our card and hides the hinge on the back so it doesn’t interrupt your scene on the front.

Then I cut the next smallest oval from blue cardstock and inked the top edge with chipped sapphire distress oxide ink and the bottom part with ground espresso. Then I spritzed it with my distress sprayer and blotted it dry. I also flicked gold watercolor on the top portion for some stars in the sky.

I chose a few sweet images to stamp, color and die cut from Mama Elephant’s Around the Campfire. I love how these images mix and match for different camping scenes. Once these were ready to go, I arranged them on my oval to find the best spot to stamp and heat emboss the first part of my sentiment, which comes from Mama Elephant So Appreciated.

Now we can assemble everything. I popped the scene panel up on the yellow panel with foam tape, then also popped up the moon and bunnies while the campfire is attached with liquid glue. Then, I removed the release paper and attached the back part of my card base. After it was attached I used a bone folder to really burnish the adhesive strip and also reinforce the fold so the card opens nicely.

Next, I placed my open card in my MISTI and stamped the second part of my sentiment on the left side in black ink. After that I chose a couple of images from the front to stamp in light yellow ink. It gives a little something cute but if your writing goes over it, it’s still visible.

There was so much visual texture on the background panel that I just used an iridescent glitter pen on the flames and moon, along with black glaze pen on the bunny’s eye and the other bunny’s open mouth.

Doodlebugs – Hip Hip Hooray Spellbinders Hot Foiling with Mama Elephant Celebration Hamsters

Welcome, welcome friends! I’m so glad you stopped by today. I’m over on the Doodlebugs blog sharing a fun celebratory card featuring goodies from Spellbinders and Mama Elephant.

Today’s creation could very well be a birthday card but it’s also generic enough to celebrate just about anything you feel like!

I started my card today by stamping and coloring the two images from Mama Elephant Celebration Hamsters with my copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and set them aside.

Next, I heated up my Glimmer Hot Foil System and foiled the Hip Hip Hooray with rose gold hot foil. I thought it went perfectly with the pink in my balloons. I used the coordinating die to cut it out and set it with my images for now.

Next, I embossed a 4×5.25 inch piece of white cardstock with the Spellbinders Balloons 3D embossing folder. Then I used a blending brush to add some teal ink to bring them to life. I added foam tape to the back and popped it up on a white card base.

Then I added my sentiment and images with foam squares and started on finishing touches. For this little cutie, I added black glaze pen to his eyes, glossy accents to his nose and a little stardust Stickles to the sparklers.

Last, for this sweetheart floating in the sky I added black glaze pen to his eyes too and glossy accents to his nose and ALL of those balloons. It might be a little extra, but I’m so okay with it! It’s really fun and shines so pretty in the light.

These kind of cards are invaluable in my stash because sometimes you can’t plan the type of celebration you need a card for and it’s not always a birthday! Am I right!?!

Doodlebugs – Mini Note Card with Pretty Pink Posh, Mama Elephant and Spellbinders

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a mini note card featuring dies from Pretty Pink Posh, stamps from Mama Elephant and embossing folder and stamps from Spellbinders. This little card was so fun to create and I think they’re going to be a little addictive. They will be so fun to pop in lunch boxes or leave places for my family.

I really wanted to color this adorable image from Mama Elephant Storytime stamps, so that’s where I started…with no other plan in place. Sometimes this is the most therapeutic craft sessions. No pressure, just do something you want and if it turns into a completed project, cool. If not, you got to relax and color.

However, after I die cut this adorable image, it struck me that it might fit the Pretty Pink Posh Sweet Note card. And it did, perfectly! So I cut the base from white cardstock and the stitched square from teal. Then I added some texture to the square using the Spellbinders Tiny Dots embossing folder. The embossed panel is glued to the card with liquid glue and the image is popped up with foam squares.

Then I found this perfect sentiment in the Spellbinders I’ve Got You Covered stamp set. After I stamped it, I just trimmed it into a strip and added it with a foam strip. For finishing touches I added some white gel pen highlights, black glaze pen to open eyes and stardust Stickles to the clouds and sun. Last, I did put little dots of glossy accents on noses and the frog’s crown.

Do you give little notes to your family members? I can’t be the only one. Lol!

Doodlebugs – Hip Hip Hooray Tropical Bird Hot Foil

Woohoo!!! I’m so happy to be joining the Doodlebugs team! I’ll be bringing you fantastic inspiration with your favorite brands mixed and matched together. Sometimes we get in a rut of using only one brand of products per project but remember that it’s fun to combine your favorites together.

Today I had some fun hot foiling with the new Spellbinders Hooray hot foil and die set. Isn’t that speckled prism hot foil eye catching! I love it! Once that was done, I pulled out the Pretty Pink Posh Tropical Toucans and Trellis stencil to play around.

My orange panel measures 3×5.5 inches and is inked up with Lawn Fawn carrot ink for a tone-on-tone background. I popped the panel up with foam tape before adding my birds and sentiment with foam squares.

For finishing touches I added black glaze pen to the toucan’s eyes and glossy accents to their beaks. Next I put a bit of stardust Stickles on the the flower and finished the design off with a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh sea foam pearls using liquid glue.

I love how fun and happy this bright card is! It’s perfect for a variety of occasions and great to have in your stash.
