13 Days of Tricks and Treats – Day 7

I’m silly excited to share a trick with you today! I didn’t want to have too many since these were going to kids but what’s the fun if it’s all treats???

We made these super easy and adorable little boxes and squished rubber snakes in each one. Here is the link to the original post where I got my instructions. She has a video which is always helpful as well.

For mine I cut the box out of purple cardstock and simply took the bats from The Rabbit Hole Designs Hex Yeah stamp set and stamped them all over. I punched the wholes, adhered them with Scrappy Tape and tied them up with orange ribbon.

I did contemplate a sentiment strip somewhere on it but my daughter was so excited with the unassuming simplicity that she convinced me to leave them alone. She’s so excited to share these at school. I think she’s honestly more excited to share the tricks than the treats. She must be my child!

Here’s another look from above so you can see the dimension that you end up with.

I’ve made these numerous times in the past and put whatever candy suits me at the time. There is plenty of room for a few Hershey’s kisses or even the mini candy bars.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a faboooolous day!

The Rabbit Hole Designs – October Release Day 3

Welcome to our last day of the inspiration hop for the amazing October release! I hope you’ve had so much fun and we can’t wait to see what you all create with this fabulous release!!!

On to today’s projects though! I’m sharing a couple of fun ones with the Caffeinated Reindeer! He’s one of my favorites from this release. I’ll definitely be using him a lot this holiday season!

As soon as I saw the sentiments in the set, I knew I needed to make a treat bag with coffee in it. So that’s what I did with this first project.

It’s a pretty simple but fun design and we all know someone who needs a little extra #reindeerfuel during the holiday season.

Here are the details:

  • Stamped, colored and die cut my reindeer. I chose to stamp this reindeer on kraft cardstock and used my prismacolors on him too. I love that look these days!
  • I die cut a treat bag and a glittery snow hill and put them all together.
  • I adhered my reindeer and stamped the sentiment on a strip that I cut into a banner shape. Then added a red glitter banner behind it before tying it to the slits in the bag.

I put 4 k-cups in the bag and topped it with red tinsel to round out the package. I love all the shimmer with that exhausted reindeer. It’s fun and I know a lot of busy moms who can relate and will love this fun treat during the holidays.

Up next I stepped outside of my comfort zone and drew my own little scene for the next reindeer.

Here’s how I made it:

  • Stamped, heat embossed and colored my reindeer with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, then die cut him out.
  • I took a 4×5.25 panel and lightly sketched out the general scene I wanted and then went over it with a fine tip black pen. I colored the background with my copics and popped the scene on a white card base.
  • I stamped my sentiment and cut it into a thin strip.
  • Then, I popped the reindeer and sentiment strip up with foam squares.

The message of this card cracks me up. If I were Rudolph, pulling an all-nighter for Christmas, I would look worse than this even the day after!

Be sure to hop along to all 3 days of inspiration to maximize your chances of winning fun prizes!

The Rabbit Hole Designs – October Release Day 2

Welcome back to day 2 of The Rabbit Hole Designs new inspiration hop for the October release. I hope you’re having fun hopping with all of the design team and are getting great inspiration along the way. Today I’m sharing this super fun Caffeinated Turkey!

I love using my stamps for more than just cards and I realized that it’s been a while since I did anything like that and this turkey was just asking for it! My mom and I are two of the crazies that go Black Friday shopping every year. It’s tradition and we always have a blast. So this year I made a survival kit to get us through! haha!

I heat embossed my turked in black and used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color him in. These are so fun and I love the watercolor look they give. Then, I used my Cricut to make a tag and had it write out the wording. I die cut some distress inked leaves and glued them to the tag. Then I popped my turkey on with foam squares and tied it to my filled up gift bag.

I also wanted to put this guy on a card and that’s what I’m sharing next.

In the spirit of trying new things, I stamped this turkey on kraft cardstock and colored him with my prismacolor pencils. It gives a totally different look from the same stamp. I love it! I stenciled the right side of my card base with the diamond flower stencil and glued more of those distressed leaves along the border. I popped my turkey up with foam squares and did the same with the sentiment strips I stamped.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas. I can’t wait to see all the creative things you all make with this fabulous turkey!

The Rabbit Hole Designs – October Release Day 1

Hi everyone!!! So excited to be sharing a new set from the fabulous October release for The Rabbit Hole Designs!!! Are you so excited? Today’s set is called Steeped in Happiness and I love it! I’ve made two completely different cards to share with you today. I hope you enjoy them.

For this first one I knew I wanted to try a different fold technique to make the card original. So I’ve made a gate fold card but the images on the front are attached on opposite sides. It’s really cool for the recipient. Here’s a closer look.

Isn’t that cool??? Here’s a few more details on how I made this card.

  • I started with the card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored it at 2.25 from each side to create the gate fold. Then cut patterned paper to fit the front panels and glued it down.
  • I stamped, colored and cut the image out.
  • I die cut 2 nested ovals – one with white cardstock that I inked lightly in the center and the other with patterned paper and glued them together. Then popped the teapot image up with foam squares.
  • I glued the oval to the left flap of the gate fold.
  • Next I stamped my sentiment from the set and cut a banner. This was only glued to the right flap of the card.
  • For finishing touches I glued gems and sequins all around the card.

It’s a really fun card but I especially like the gate fold technique for added interest and it helps it stand up nicely too. Do you ever make cards with different folds? I think I need to try it more often. This was fun and outside of the norm for me.

For the next card, I knew that I wanted to do something completely different than my first so I spent time thinking…then it hit me. I’m a Disney freak and Alice has always been one of my favorites. So, here we go!

Do you see it??? Let me know in the comments. 😉

Here are the details:

  • Printed striped paper on a toner copier and sent it through my laminator with Silver Shattered Deco Foil, then cut it down to a strip.
  • Stamped and colored my image and matted in on black cardstock. Same with the sentiment.
  • Now for assembly, I glued blue cardstock to a card base, then added my silver stripes and a black stripe along the edge. Then I popped up my sentiment and image panels with foam squares.
  • For finishing touches on this card I scattered clear gems throughout.

I love how this card turned out! Don’t you? What will you create with this super fun tea set? I can’t wait to see!

The Rabbit Hole Designs – Depresso Flamingo

Hey! I’m over at The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today with this awesome caffeinated flamingo card. I have been playing with distress ink backgrounds lately and when this one was finished I knew I wanted to try a flamingo with it.

Here are the details:

  • Blended distress inks and spritzed the panel with water. Then adhered it to a card front.
  • Trimmed down a black panel to 4×5.25 and die cut a border out. Then popped this up with foam tape for dimension.
  • Stamped, colored and die cut my flamingo. Then I glued him directly to the black panel.
  • I chose a sentiment from the Perfectly Blended set, stamped it on a red-ish cardstock that matched my background and popped the strip up with foam tape.
  • For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the mug and gems scattered throughout. I love a little bling!

I love that black cardstock against the bright background. And the flamingo is just soft enough to pop from both of those elements and not get lost. This is such a fun card and was pretty quick to put together. I feel like a set of these with different sentiments would be a fun gift for someone. Or a great thing to have on hand for when you need to send a card on short notice.

Thanks for hanging with me today! Below are the products I used.

The Rabbit Hole Designs Watercolor Pumpkin Friends

Hey there! I’m up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today sharing this great pumpkin friends watercolor card. I love all things Halloween and these cards have been so fun to make! I love it all!

Today I decided to get messy with watercolor. Let’s be real, I’m rarely a clean crafter but when you add paint I’m an extra mess.

  • Today I used watercolor paper for the background panel and just did multiple layers of black watercolor, drying the paper in between to add texture and dimension to the paint. Then I splattered that with gold and purple watercolor and set it aside to dry.
  • I stamped, colored and cut my pumpkins and popped them up with foam squares.
  • I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in gold and then stamped a spider hanging down from the bottom of it for an extra spooky look.
  • For finishing touches I added glossy accents to the pumpkin’s eyes, noses and mouths and the spider’s body.
  • This whole thing was glued onto a purple card base for a little pop of extra color around the edge.

Look at the light shine off the glossy accents. It really gives it a whole different look. I love it!

Here are the stamp sets I used.

2019 Oregon State Fair Card Entries

So, a few weeks back I decided to do a thing and entered 14 of my recent cards into the Oregon State Fair Creative Living Competition. It was totally on a whim and I had zero expectations but thought it would be fun.

To my astonishment and surprise, I ribboned 10 out of the 14 cards.

Let’s start with the third place (white) ribbons.

From left, The Rabbit Hole Designs Caffeinated Narwhal was entered in the “card with movement” category, below that using Spellbinders dies went into “die cuts,” Inky from The Rabbit Hole Designs was entered in “coloring with alcohol inks” and the Avery Elle Christmas Magic card was entered in “Christmas.”

For the second place (red) ribbons we have…

The Lawn Fawn Costume Party card was entered into “Halloween,” and the Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends were in the “thank you/thinking of you” division.

And for the first place (blue) ribbons… Drum roll please…

Ta-da!!! The Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends were in “Halloween,” The Rabbit Hole Designs Pretty in Peony was in “thank you/thinking of you,” Newton’s Nook Scuba Newton was in the “birthday” division and finally The Rabbit Hole Designs Mermaid Hair was in the “coloring with alcohol inks” division.

I’m still flabbergasted and honored to have been recognized so many times over and in so many different categories. This was a really fun experience and plan to do it again next year.

Have you ever entered anything into your state fair? I think it would be fun to try my hand at other crafts and see how they do too.

I appreciate you sharing your time with me. Have a fabulous day!

The Rabbit Hole Designs Hey Gourd-geous!

Hey there! I’m up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today sharing this fabulous glittery shaker card. I’m having so much fun with all of these awesome Halloween stamps. I can’t get enough of them. I hope you’re enjoying it too.

For today’s card I kept it pretty simple but really fun!

  • I started by using a cloud stencil and distress inks on a white panel for some spooky Halloween clouds.
  • Next I stamped, colored and cut out my pumpkin.
  • Then I cut a wonky frame and a piece of acetate, gluing them together and then adding a double layer of foam tape to create my shaker window.
  • I poured micro beads, seed beads and glitter on the cloud panel and adhered the window piece over the top enclosing the shaker mechanism.
  • Next I adhered that to a card base and added my pumpkin and sentiment to the front of the shaker.

This card is adorable and so fun to play with! The beads give the shaker some weight but the glitter shimmers so nicely in the light. It’s a great balance.

Here is the stamp set I used.

The Rabbit Hole Designs Witches Gotta Stick Together

You say witch like it’s a bad thing… ha!ha!ha! I seriously can’t get enough of this new Halloween release from The Rabbit Hole Designs! They are all so fabulous and fun to create with! Today I’m on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog sharing the fabulous witchy card using the newly released Boo to You stamp set.

Here’s how I did it.

  • Started with a black panel and smeared texture paste across a plaid stencil and set it aside to dry. Once that was dry I flicked gold watercolor on it and let that dry too. Then adhered it to a piece of craft foam for dimension and glued that to a copper panel.
  • I stamped, colored and cut out my image. Stamped and heat embossed my sentiment and die cut it with a label die. Then added gold accents to the top and bottom to go with the base panel.
  • I adhered the background to a white card base and popped the image and sentiments up with foam squares.
  • Voila! Shimmery, witchy goodness!

I really like the flat look of the texture paste and the shiny of the gold paper and watercolor. They mix well. And that green hat! Perfect!

The Rabbit Hole Designs September Release – Day 3

Thanks so much for coming back for day 3 of The Rabbit Hole Designs September release inspiration! Today I’ve got 2 cards using the Pumpkin Friends stamp set. They are adorable and so fun to create with!

I am so excited how cool this first card turned out! It’s ooky spooky but cute and fun at the same time! Here’s how I did it:

  • Embossed a spiderweb on a black panel and drug a white ink pad lightly across it for a wispy look. It’s so cool!
  • I stamped and heat embossed the spiders from Boo To You with clear embossing powder. I love this look!
  • Stamped, colored, cut out my pumpkins and popped them up with foam squares.
  • I stamped the sentiment and cut it into a banner shape and popped it up with foam squares as well.

I am so excited about this next card. It’s so much fun and has little hidden element I can’t wait to show you.

  • I blended distress inks on 2 panels and an additional strip – one for the night sky, the other and the strip for the brick wall and spritzed them with water. Then I ran the wall pieces through the die cutter with a brick embossing folder.
  • I stamped, colored and cut my pumpkins and set them aside.
  • On the night sky piece I smooshed versamark embossing ink on the circles and stars stencil and added glow in the dark embossing powder! Such a simple idea but it’s so fun!
  • For assembly I glued the sky to a card base and the brick wall to that. Then popped the brick edge up with foam squares and also popped the pumpkins up with foam above that.
  • Last I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment and cut it into a strip, adhering it with foam tape as well.

Did you know it’s really difficult to take pictures in the dark? Well, it is but here is an idea of what the stars look like glowing above the pumpkins. It is so much fun!

Here are the products I used for these cards. Remember you can head to The Rabbit Hole Designs and Simon Says Stamp for products!
